In Atlantic, as of 11-a.m., the temperature at the KJAN studios (The official National Weather Service reporting site for Atlantic) was 63-degrees, which tied the record set 50-years ago on this date. The predicted high this afternoon, is forecast to be around 63.

The National Weather Service has issued a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for most of Iowa, and the entire KJAN listening area. The Advisory is in effect until 9-a.m.

VISIBILITY: VISIBILITIES OF A QUARTER MILE OR LESS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH MID MORNING. LOW LYING AREAS NEAR CREEKS AND RIVERS ARE LIKELY TO HAVE THE MOST DENSE FOG.

IMPACTS: HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED DUE TO THE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES. EXTRA TIME SHOULD BE GIVEN FOR EARLY SUNDAY MORNING TRAVEL.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:  A DENSE FOG ADVISORY MEANS VISIBILITIES WILL FREQUENTLY BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN ONE QUARTER MILE. IF DRIVING…SLOW DOWN… USE YOUR HEADLIGHTS…AND LEAVE PLENTY OF DISTANCE BETWEEN YOURSELF AND OTHER VEHICLES.
