SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF IOWA ON TUESDAY
MORNING AND CONTINUE TUESDAY NIGHT WITH MODERATE TO HEAVY
ACCUMULATIONS. IN ADDITION… INCREASING NORTH WINDS BY TUESDAY

HIGHEST AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE CLOSE TO THE KANSAS BORDER. IN ADDITION…NORTH WINDS GUSTING AROUND 30 MPH WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

MILLS-MONTGOMERY-FREMONT AND PAGE COUNTIES: WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT… ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES ARE LIKELY WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS APPROACHING THE KANSAS BORDER

TONIGHT…CLOUDY. A CHANCE OF LIGHT SNOW BEFORE MIDNIGHT AND EARLY MORNING. LIGHT SNOW EARLY IN THE MORNING. NOT AS COLD. SNOW ACCUMULATION AROUND 1 INCH. LOW 15 TO 20. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 TO 10 MPH. CHANCE OF SNOW 80 PERCENT.

SNOW WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE AREA TUESDAY AND CONTINUE TUESDAY NIGHT. THIS SYSTEM WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS. IN ADDITION…INCREASING NORTH WINDS TUESDAY NIGHT WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING SNOW THAT WILL CREATE VERY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL DURING THE PERIOD.

MADISON-ADAMS-UNION-TAYLOR-AND RINGGOLD COUNTIES: WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH…TOTAL SNOW…3 TO 8 INCHES WITH THE HEAVIEST ACCUMULATIONS NEAR THE MISSOURI BORDER.

MILLS-MONTGOMERY-FREMONT AND PAGE COUNTIES: WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT….

SNOW WILL MOVE NORTHEAST INTO THE AREA LATE MONDAY NIGHT…WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW FALLING TUESDAY MORNING INTO TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL BEGIN TO DIMINISH FROM WEST TO EAST LATE TUESDAY NIGHT. SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES ARE LIKELY…WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS NEAR THE KANSAS BORDER.

VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY IN FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW…ESPECIALLY TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT AS WINDS INCREASE TO 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP NEAR 30 MPH. BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS OF NEAR -15 BELOW ARE POSSIBLE TUESDAY NIGHT AS WELL.

SNOW WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE AREA TUESDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE TUESDAY NIGHT. THE GREATEST ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED BETWEEN TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.  STORM TOTAL SNOW…3 TO 8 INCHES WITH THE HEAVIEST ACCUMULATIONS NEAR THE MISSOURI BORDER.

SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY TUESDAY NIGHT AS THE WIND INCREASES. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY DIFFICULT AND HAZARDOUS. LOCAL WHITEOUT CONDITIONS MAY OCCUR.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 5. Wind chill values as low as -5. South southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Monday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 28. Wind chill values as low as -5. South southwest wind 7 to 11 mph.
Monday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 16. Wind chill values as low as 10. South southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming east after midnight. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday: Snow. High near 21. Blustery, with a north northeast wind 7 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Tuesday Night: Snow, mainly before midnight. Low around 2. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON TODAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MONTGOMERY-FREMONT AND PAGE COUNTIES THAT WAS SCHEDULED TO BE IN EFFECT UNTIL 6-A.M., HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

* TIMING…SNOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH SUNRISE AND GRADUALLY TAPER OFF DURING THE MORNING.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…2 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW IS FORECAST.

* VISIBILITY…GENERALLY 1 TO 2 MILES OF VISIBILITY RESTRICTIONS WILL BE COMMON DURING THE EVENT. A FEW BRIEF VISIBILITY RESTRICTIONS TO LESS THAN A MILE AT TIMES CAN BE EXPECTED.
