The National Weather Service offices in Des Moines and Omaha have released the most recent storm totals for snowfall in the listening area.  Bedford, in Taylor County and Beaconsfield, in Ringgold County, recorded the most snowfall at 6-inches each. Clarinda and Adel both reported 5-inches.

Elsewhere: Sidney had 4.8 inches of snow; Underwood reported 4.2-inches; Shenandoah received 4-inches; Red Oak had 3.8; Little Sioux (Harrison County), 3.7″; Hastings (Mills Co.), 3.5″; Oakland, 3.1″; Logan (Harrison Co.), 3-inches; Denison & Carroll, 1.5″; Onawa, 1.1″, and Corning had 1-inch of snow.

In Atlantic, our 24-hour snowfall amounted to 1.5-inches, for a storm total of 3-inches (Since early Tuesday morning). The 24-hour total melted down to .16″ of precipitation. Massena reported 2-inches, for a storm total of 3.5-inches.

Today: Patchy blowing snow and a chance of snow before 9am, then patchy blowing snow and a slight chance of snow between 9am and 11am. Cloudy and cold, with a steady temperature around 4. Wind chill values as low as -20. Windy, with a north wind 14 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around -13. Wind chill values as low as -25. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 9. Wind chill values as low as -25. West northwest wind 6 to 10 mph.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -6. Wind chill values as low as -20. West southwest wind around 7 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 15. South southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 2.

MONONA-HARRISON-SHELBY-POTTAWATTAMIE-MONTGOMERY-FREMONT & PAGE COUNTIES: WIND CHILL ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM CST THIS MORNING.WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY AND WINTER STORM WARNING (FOR SOME OF THOSE COUNTIES) IS CANCELLED.

WIND CHILL INDICES AROUND 20 BELOW WILL PERSISTS THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS. A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS…MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.

LIGHT SNOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH MID MORNING WITH ONLY FLURRIES THEREAFTER. WINDS WILL INCREASE EARLY THIS MORNING THEN TAPER OFF IN THE AFTERNOON. STORM TOTAL SNOW…1 TO 4 INCHES NORTH NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO NEAR 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO NEAR 30 MPH AT TIMES THIS MORNING. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED BELOW A MILE AT TIMES IN BLOWING SNOW.

TEMPERATURES WILL HOVER JUST ABOVE ZERO THIS MORNING…WITH WIND CHILL VALUES FALLING TO 15 TO 25 BELOW ZERO.SNOW WILL BLOW AND DRIFT ACROSS ROADS THIS MORNING MAKING TRAVEL DIFFICULT. * SHORT TERM TRENDS…LIGHT SNOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH MID MORNING WITH ONLY FLURRIES THEREAFTER. WINDS WILL INCREASE EARLY THIS MORNING THEN TAPER OFF IN THE AFTERNOON. STORM TOTAL SNOW…5 TO 8 INCHES IN THE SOUTH, 4 TO 7-INCHES NEAR THE I-80 CORRIDOR. NORTH NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO NEAR 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO NEAR 30 MPH AT TIMES THIS MORNING.
