TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAYVERY HIGH FIRE DANGER MAY EXIST ON WEDNESDAY AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE MID AND UPPER 70S.

ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE NEXT WEEKEND WHEN A COLD

TODAY…MOSTLY CLOUDY. ISOLATED LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS THROUGH MID MORNING…THEN SCATTERED LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS IN THE LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH IN THE LOWER 60S. NORTH WIND NEAR 5 MPH INCREASING TO NORTHWEST 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 25 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 50 PERCENT.

TONIGHT…MOSTLY CLOUDY. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH MIDNIGHT…THEN A SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT SHOWERS AFTER MIDNIGHT. LOW IN THE UPPER 30S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 TO 15 MPH. GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH THROUGH MIDNIGHT. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 20 PERCENT.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS CANCELLED THE WIND ADVISORY THAT WAS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1-PM FOR PARTS OF THE KJAN LISTENING AREA.

CURRENTLY WIND SPEEDS ARE BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH WITH A FEW LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS BUT THIS IS BELOW WIND ADVISORY CRITERIA. AS A RESULT THE WIND ADVISORY HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR WESTERN IOWA.

A NORTHWEST WIND AT 25 TO 35 MPH IS STILL EXPECTED TO REMAIN ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH MID AFTERNOON SO ALTHOUGH THE ADVISORY IS CANCELLED IT WILL STILL BE VERY WINDY.

Today A 20 percent chance of snow before 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Windy, with a northwest wind 21 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Tonight Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. Blustery, with a northwest wind 12 to 17 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. South wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Saturday Night A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. South wind 8 to 13 mph.

Sunday A 30 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. South southwest wind around 8 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday Night A 30 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Denison – 3 to 4 inches of snow (Spotter & law enforcement reports as of 3:17am)

SNOW…HEAVY AT TIMES WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN A MILE AT TIMES THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. MUCH OF THE SNOW WILL MELT AS IT FALLS AND MOST AREAS WILL SEE AN INCH OR LESS OF SNOW ACCUMULATION. DESPITE THE SLIGHT AMOUNTS…BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES MAY BECOME SLIPPERLY. SLOW DOWN…ESPECIALLY ON ELEVATED SURFACES AND…DUE TO RESTRICTED VISIBILITIES.

…AREAS OF FOG TO CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY MORNING…

VISIBILITIES OF GENERALLY ONE MILE OR LESS HAVE BEEN OBSERVED ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHERN IOWA THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS. THESE REDUCED VISIBILITIES WILL OCCASIONALLY DROP TO ONE HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES AND CONTINUE FOR THE REST OF THIS EVENING. RELATIVELY DRIER AIR WILL BE ADVECTED INTO IOWA OVERNIGHT WHICH SHOULD HELP LIFT THE FOG BY SUNRISE FRIDAY.

BE PREPARED FOR REDUCTIONS IN VISIBILITY…ESPECIALLY ACROSS LOW LYING AREAS. SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA SPACE BETWEEN YOURSELF VEHICLES IN FRONT OF YOU.
