THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OMAHA HAS ISSUED A  FLOOD WARNING FOR… EASTERN MILLS COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IOWA… WESTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IOWA… NORTHEASTERN FREMONT COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IOWA… SOUTHEASTERN POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST IOWA… * UNTIL 945 PM CDT *

AT 346 PM CDT…RIVER GAUGES NORTHEAST OF EMERSON ON INDIAN CREEK AND AND ALSO NEAR HENDERSON ON THE NISHNABOTNA RIVER INDICATED VALUES ABOVE FLOOD STAGE. THESE ELEVATED STREAM LEVELS ARE DUE TO HEAVY RAIN EARLY THIS MORNING. FLOODING MAY ALSO BE OCCURRING ON CRABAPPLE CREEK.

THE EAST NISHNABOTNA RIVER AT RED OAK.
* FROM THIS AFTERNOON TO SUNDAY MORNING…OR UNTIL THE WARNING IS
CANCELLED.
* AT 9:00 AM SATURDAY THE STAGE WAS 16.3 FEET…OR 1.7 FEET BELOW
FLOOD STAGE.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 18.0 FEET.
* MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FORECAST…RISE TO AROUND 18.2 FEET BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. THEN FALL
BACK BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY THIS EVENING.
* IMPACT…AT 18.0 FEET…RURAL LOWLANDS BEGIN TO FLOOD ALONG THE EAST
BANK.

THUNDERSTORMS. THIS WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING ALONG INDIAN CREEK.

RIVER GAGES ALONG INDIAN ARE SHOWING SIGNIFICANT RISES DUE TO THIS

HAS ALREADY FALLEN OVER MUCH OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY. THIS WILL CAUSE
MINOR FLOODING OF STREETS…ROADS…AND SMALL STREAMS THROUGHOUT
THE COUNTY.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…

…THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR WESTERN SHELBY AND EASTERN
HARRISON COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 500 AM CDT…

THE STORM WHICH PROMPTED THE WARNING HAS WEAKENED BELOW SEVERE
LIMITS…AND NO LONGER POSE AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO LIFE OR PROPERTY.
THEREFORE THE WARNING WILL BE ALLOWED TO EXPIRE. HOWEVER SMALL
HAIL….GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN ARE STILL POSSIBLE WITH THIS
THUNDERSTORM.
