A STORM SURVEY WILL BE CONDUCTED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN DES MOINES IN CRESTON AND NEAR OSCEOLA, TODAY(APRIL 15, 2012) IN RELATION TO THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THAT MOVED THROUGH THE AREA ON
APRIL 14, 2012. THE SURVEYS WILL BE CONDUCTED THIS MORNING AND EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.

THE RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS OF THE SURVEY WILL BE COMPLETED AND TRANSMITTED VIA A PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT AND ALSO POSTED TO THE WEATHER SERVICES’ WEBSITE [WEATHER.GOV/DMX] LATER TODAY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OMAHA HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING FOR THE NISHNABOTNA RIVER NEAR HAMBURG AFFECTING FREMONT COUNTY, FROM TODAY UNTIL MONDAY AFTERNOON…OR UNTIL THE WARNING IS CANCELLED.
                   * AT 6:00 AM SUNDAY THE STAGE WAS 21.4 FEET.
                   * FLOOD STAGE IS 23.0 FEET.
                   * MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
                   * FORECAST…RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE TODAY AND CONTINUE TO RISE TO
                   NEAR 26.5 FEET BY MONDAY MORNING. THE RIVER SHOULD FALL BELOW
                   FLOOD STAGE BY TOMORROW EVENING.
                   * IMPACT…AT 27.0 FEET…STATE HIGHWAY 275 SOUTH OF THE GAGE MAY BE

Today…Mostly cloudy through mid morning then becoming mostly sunny. Very windy. A slight chance of thunderstorms through mid morning…then a chance of thunderstorms before noon. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms may be severe in the afternoon. High in the lower 70s. South wind 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 40 mph increasing to 30 to 35 mph with gusts to around 65 mph in the afternoon. Chance of thunderstorms 40 percent.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OMAHA HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING FOR THE NODAWAY RIVER NEAR CLARINDA. FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE ON THE EAST NODAWAY RIVER IN EASTERN PAGE COUNTY.

THE WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MONDAY AFTERNOON OR UNTIL THE WARNING IS CANCELLED.

AT 10:15 PM SATURDAY THE STAGE WAS 17.7 FEET. FLOOD STAGE IS 19.0 FEET. MODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST. * FORECAST: RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE TO NEAR 22.5 FEET BY AROUND 7 AM SUNDAY MORNING. THE RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY LATE SUNDAY EVENING.
