THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL AND DAMAGING

WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE

SOUTHWESTERN MADISON COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA

* UNTIL 400 PM CDT

* AT 303 PM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL…AND

DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED 5 MILES

EAST OF GREENFIELD…OR 18 MILES NORTH OF CRESTON…AND MOVING EAST

AT 25 MPH.

AT 305 PM A WIND GUST OF 55 MPH WAS REPORTED JUST EAST OF

GREENFIELD WITH THIS STORM.

* AT 259 PM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING PING PONG BALL SIZE HAIL…AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 6 MILES SOUTH OF JEFFERSON TO GUTHRIE CENTER…AND MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH.

* LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE…PANORA…PERRY…YALE…JAMAICA…RIPPEY…DAWSON…BERKLEY AND PERRY AIRPORT.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 565 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 800 PM CDT

FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS

IOWA COUNTIES INCLUDED ARE ADAIR ADAMS APPANOOSE AUDUBON BOONE CARROLL CASS CLARKE DALLAS DECATUR GREENE GUTHRIE JASPER LUCAS MADISON MARION MONROE POLK RINGGOLD STORY TAYLOR UNION WARREN WAYNE

HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER…THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH…AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS. THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF DES MOINES IOWA TO 15 MILES EAST OF LAMONI IOWA.

REMEMBER…A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

TONIGHT…PARTLY CLOUDY. A 20 PERCENT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH MIDNIGHT. LOW IN THE MID 60S. NORTHWEST WIND NEAR 5 MPH SHIFTING TO THE NORTH AFTER MIDNIGHT.
