THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER FOR TONIGHT. LARGE HAIL…DAMAGING WINDS…TORNADOES…AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL ALL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY.

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF NON-SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LINGERING INTO SUNDAY MORNING. THERE ARE ALSO CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. AT THIS TIME THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE IS LOW. STRONG AND GUSTY SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS ARE POSSIBLE SUNDAY INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. WINDS SPEEDS AND GUSTS WILL APPROACH ADVISORY CRITERIA.

* AT 251 PM CDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN THAT WILL CAUSE SMALL STREAM FLOODING. OVERFLOWING POOR DRAINAGE AREAS WILL RESULT IN MINOR FLOODING IN THE ADVISORY AREA. AT 246 PM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEROLOGISTS INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LARGE DAMAGING HAIL UP TO GOLF BALL SIZE AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR STANTON…OR 45 MILES NORTH OF TARKIO…MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH.

TORNADO WATCH 168 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 900 PM CDT FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS

IOWA COUNTIES INCLUDED ARE:

ADAIR ADAMS AUDUBON CASS CLARKE DALLAS DECATUR GUTHRIE MADISON RINGGOLD TAYLOR UNION

TORNADOES…HAIL TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER…THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH…AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS. THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 55 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF SHENANDOAH IOWA TO 60 MILES NORTHEAST OF OMAHA NEBRASKA.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE… ESSEX.
