WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING. SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE MORNING AND IT WILL BE VERY WINDY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. WIND SPEEDS SHOULD INCREASE TO 30 TO 40 MPH…WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 OR 55 MPH POSSIBLE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

IN SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA… CLARKE…MADISON…RINGGOLD…UNION AND WARREN. IN SOUTHWEST IOWA...ADAIR…ADAMS…CASS AND TAYLOR. IN WEST CENTRAL IOWA… AUDUBON AND GUTHRIE.

HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING. .GUSTY WINDS WILL BEGIN ACROSS THE AREA EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. THE STRONGEST WINDS AND GUSTS ARE EXPECTED FROM MID AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING.

SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 35 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH OR HIGHER ARE EXPECTED. VERY STRONG WINDS WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY ON EAST WEST ORIENTED ROADS. THESE WINDS CAN CAUSE TREE DAMAGE AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL FOR MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE.

THE TORNADO WARNING FOR POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY IS CANCELLED…

THE STORM WHICH PROMPTED THE WARNING HAS WEAKENED BELOW SEVERE LIMITS…AND NO LONGER APPEARS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO. THEREFORE THE WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELLED. HOWEVER GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN ARE STILL POSSIBLE WITH THIS THUNDERSTORM.
