(Glenwood, Iowa) – The Mills County Sheriff’s Office says it has received numerous requests for updates on the case of 73-year old Judy Krueger. The Glenwood woman was reported missing Sept. 16th, when she left her residence on foot.

Authorities today (Friday), said “Unfortunately, there is minimal information to update with.” A search and rescue cadaver dog worked Friday (today) “in the Foothills Park prairie area and the wooded area along Jammett Road, with no indications of Ms. Krueger’s presence.”

The Sheriff’s Office said also, “We have received word of a community organized search party occurring tomorrow (Saturday) morning. We want to again urge caution to anyone willing to help, to work in pairs or teams for safety reasons, and to know your limitations on the terrain you are able to traverse safely.”

Officials say the don’t want to discourage anyone from searching or retracing the areas other have searched, “But there is not any specific area” they can recommend searching, as numerous areas have been searched “On foot, UTV and air methods.” Authorities will continue to follow-up on any leads and to respond to areas of interest that may come up in the future.

Judy Krueger is 5-feet three-inches tall, she weighs about 130-pound, has reddish gray hair, and suffers from Dementia. She was last known to be wearing jeans, and 2-to-3 layered t-shirts. She also has a bracelet with her husband’s contact information on it.

Atlantic, IA—Cass Health will begin administering flu shots on Monday, October 2nd and continue throughout the flu season. Walk-ins are welcome during normal Immunization Room hours; all patients should check-in at Registration first. The Immunization Room is open Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday 8 am to 11:30 am.

In Atlantic, drive-thru appointments are available on Monday and Friday mornings from 8 am to noon and on Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 6 pm. The annual Ayzlee’s Family Flu Clinic will be held on October 11th. The drive-thru will once again be in the curved driveway on 10th street, at the top of the staff parking lot (Lot D). Appointments are required — please call 712-243-2850.

Cass Health will also be administering flu vaccines, via injection or FluMist, at local schools. A clinic will be held at the Griswold school on October 18 and Atlantic schools on October 19. At Cass Health clinics in Anita, Griswold, and Massena, patients can receive their annual flu vaccine on a walk-in basis during normal business hours. Calling ahead is recommended, but not required.

The Combined City/School Election will be Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Voter pre-registration deadline is 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023. Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on election day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by 12:00 p.m. (noon), November 13, 2023. (Radio Iowa) – Republican Senator Chuck Grassley says he’d support a bill that would essentially outlaw government shutdowns. The law would automatically extend spending if an agreement isn’t reached by midnight on September 30th when the federal fiscal year ends.

A small group of House Republicans are refusing to support a short term spending bill and are ready to force a government shutdown to secure deeper cuts in the federal budget. Grassley says there are practical and political costs to shutting down the federal government.

Grassley has been a member of congress during every government shutdown in U-S history. The very first government shutdown happened in 1976, when Grassley was a member of the U-S House. Grassley was a U-S Senator in 2013 when the federal government shutdown for 16 days as Republicans protested President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

Grassley made his comments during a recent appearance on the Iowa Press program on Iowa P-B-S.

(Creston, Iowa) – The driver of a car that struck two vehicles in Creston on Sept. 16th, was issued several citations. Creston Police report a 2004 Buick Park Avenue was traveling south on Division Street at around 10:30-p.m., when the car left the road and struck a legally parked 1997 Dodge Ram pickup, registered to Joann England, from Creston. The impact caused the pickup to roll over and strike a 1999 Chevy Blazer, registered to Lance England, also of Creston.

The Buick left the scene but was located several blocks away. The driver of the car, fled the scene on foot. A passenger in the vehicle who was located in the yard by the abandoned car, told Police the driver was as 35-year-old Jesse Dale McDole, of Osceola. Witnesses told Police the driver was allegedly severely intoxicated, and the passenger said they had been at a bar drinking. The passenger was also severely intoxicated.

She told authorities she let McDole borrow the vehicle. McDole was never found, but was mailed copies of citations for: Leaving the scene of an accident; Reckless Driving; Parking where prohibited; Failure to Maintain Control, and Improper Use of a Lane.
