Frederickson Memorial Fund donates to Atlantic P-D Summer Kids programs

The Trevor Frederickson Memorial Fund is stepping up to help the Atlantic Police Department with thei summer kids program again this year.  The fund donated $300 to sponsor shirts and whatever else is needed.  Fund spokesperson and Trevor’s mom, Melanie Petty, says “It is our hope that the children involved and the department volunteers have a great time this summer.”

All funds given out in Trevor’s name are raised at the annual TFred Memorial Golf Tournament.  This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, August 14th at Nishna Hills golf club.  Team registration is now open and anyone wanting to donate to the silent auction or become a hole sponsor can contact Melanie Petty at 249-3696.  The fund is a 501©3 non profit organization which was organized after Trevor’s tragic death in June of 2009.   To date the fund has given back over $250,000 to the things that Trevor loved or took part in during his 21 years.

Pott. County Jail inmate wanted on a Nebraska warrant

A man being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail on Theft and Meth charges, was presented with a warrant from Nebraska, Tuesday. The Pott. County Sheriff’s Office reports 29-year-old Christian Joseph Lopez, of Omaha, was wanted on a Sarpy County, NE warrant for being a Fugitive from Justice. Lopez was returned to the custody of Corrections staff once he was read the warrant, and sent back to his jail cell.

2 arrests in Creston, Wednesday

Police in Creston say two people were arrested on separate charges, Wednesday. Officials say 35-year-old Bradley Gregg Clymer, of Creston, was arrested at around 10:30-p.m., on a charge of  Interference with Official Acts. Clymer was taken to Union County Jail and held on a $300 bond. And, at around 1:34-p.m., Wednesday, 34-year-old Alexander Anthony King, of Creston, was arrested for Driving While License Denied or Revoked, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Controlled Substance – 1st Offense. He was taken to Union County Jail and later released on a $2,300 cash bond.

Atlantic High School Principal Heather McKay says she is pleased to report the AHSneedle, an online student newspaper, was recently designated a 2021 School Newspapers Online distinguished site. The accomplishment demonstrates the news staff’s excellence in the SNO recognized aspects of online publishing: Continuous coverage; Site excellence; Audience engagement; Story page design; writing, and multimedia. The students are guided in their efforts by their Advisor, Allison Berryhill.
