DENVER (AP) – Matt Adams homered and drove in two runs, Matt Holliday had three hits, and the St. Louis Cardinals rallied to beat the Colorado Rockies 9-6 on Wednesday.

Drew Stubbs homered, and Justin Morneau had two hits for the Rockies, who finished their homestand 1-5.

The game featured the major league debuts of both starting pitchers. St. Louis’ Marco Gonzales was sharp early before faltering. Colorado’s Yohan Flande also started well before getting hit hard in his last inning.

Pat Neshek (2-0) pitched an inning in relief to earn the win. Trevor Rosenthal got four outs for his 23rd save in 26 chances.

The Cardinals scored twice in the eighth off Adam Ottavino (0-2) on RBI doubles by Daniel Descalso and Matt Carpenter to take a win away from Flande.

Two Alcohol and Drug Related Arrests in Red Oak

The Red Oak Police Department reports the arrest of two individuals on drug and alcohol charges on Wednesday, June 25th.  At 9:56pm officers arrested 53-year-old Julie Kae Mills of Red Oak and 51-year-old Timothy Brian Housh of Red Oak at the intersection of N 2nd Street and East Coolbaugh Street.  Mills was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine and Housh was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Open Container of Alcohol.  Both were taken to the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center with Mills held on $1,000 cash bond and Housh held on $300 cash bond.

Council Bluffs Robbery Spree Arrest Made

An arrest has been made after a string of robberies in Council Bluffs.  Council Bluffs Police conducted surveillance on a number of predetermined local business on Wednesday, June 25th that were potential targets for a robbery, after a run of five robberies since June 22nd.

Officers believe the same suspect responsible for the previous robberies attempted another robbery on Wednesday night at 9:52pm at the Walgreens store located at 535 East Broadway Street in Council Bluffs.  Officers saw a man enter the store in all black clothing, black gloves, and a black nylon stocking hose over his face.  The suspect displayed a gun and demanded a clerk to put money in a sack.  The detective on scene alerted dispatch of the robbery and that the suspect left the store running eastbound.  The detective gave chase and was able to take the man into custody.

The suspect was determined to be 24-year-old Matthew T Koval of Council Bluffs.  In the bag with the money a gun was found that was identified as a co2 pellet gun.  The suspects vehicle was located nearby and a search is pending along with a pending search warrant for his residence.  Koval was taken into custody on a charge of Robbery in the 1st Degree with other charges pending related to the other robberies this week and also 3 robberies in May in Council Bluffs.  Other police agencies that had recent robberies were also notified.
