Atlantic/CAM wrestling sets the bar high again

Sports

December 2nd, 2021 by Jim Field

The Atlantic/CAM wrestling team will open up their season tonight in a quad at Underwood and the Trojans are looking to accomplish big things again this season. KJAN Sports caught up with the team ahead of the season and there was a common theme when each grappler talked about goals. The Trojans want to put themselves in position for a team trophy at the end of the year and compete for the Hawkeye Ten dual title. Atlantic/CAM head coach Tim Duff said they always have big expectations for the program.

Ethan Follmann returns as one of the leaders for the team after placing 5th at the State Tournament last season at 120 pounds. He’s coming off helping CAM win a championship on the football field this fall, and he said that has helped him build positive momentum heading to the mat. He talked about the team being motivated for a new season.

Follmann wants to reach his ultimate goal of winning an individual title as well.

Kadin Stutzman was a state qualifier last year at 170 and he is looking forward to trying to get to the top of the medal stand this year. He talked about how he has improved.

Coach Duff thinks the Trojans have the talent to achieve some big team goals and has used early season rankings to help motivate the squad.

The Trojans will compete in that quad tonight with strong Glenwood, Underwood, and Riverside teams. The Trojans will then head to the Humboldt Tourney on Friday and Saturday.
