BILOXI, Miss. – Iowa Men’s golf finished round two of play at the Fallen Oaks Collegiate Invitational. The tournament features four top-30 ranked opponents, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Ole Miss, No. 10 Mississippi State, and No. 27 SMU. Iowa is in 11th place heading into the final round.

Junior Ian Meyer is leading the way for the Hawkeyes tied for 29th place. Meyer shot 1-over par on the back nine and finished the second round shooting 78 (+6).

Fifth-year Mac McClear finished as the low scorer for the Hawkeyes in the second round of the tournament carding 73 (+1). McClear shot 2-under par on his second nine to move forward 19 spots in the standings.

Josh Lundmark, competing individually, is tied for 34^th place at 6-over par. Lundmark’s par three average of 3.00 (E) is tied for fourth in the tournament.

No. 2 Auburn is at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round. Auburn shot 5-under par in the second round to get to 11-under par for the tournament.

The final round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate will take place on Tuesday. This will conclude Iowa’s fall season.

Women’s and men’s basketball programs will preview the 2023-24 season at the Big 12 Basketball Tipoff, presented by Old Trapper on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 17-18, in Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center.

Head coaches and student-athletes will meet with the media in a variety of interview sessions with women’s programs scheduled for Tuesday while men’s teams appear on Wednesday. Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will provide two different feeds of coverage each day with the main set simulcast on ESPNU from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. CT.

The Women’s Tipoff telecast will feature a series of Q&A sessions with head coaches and student-athletes moderated by Missy Heidrick as well as on-set interviews with ESPN’s Kris Budden, Hannah Wing and Hall of Famer and former Texas Tech standout Sheryl Swoopes. Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark will open the event with an 8:30 a.m. CT press conference.

Men’s Tipoff interviews will be conducted by Budden, Wing and Fran Fraschilla on Wednesday. A feed of head coaches’ press conferences will also be available from 9:10-10:50 a.m. CT and 1:30-3:25 p.m. CT.

The Kid Reporters program returns to the Tipoff for the second year, as third and fourth graders at KIPP Elementary School, a public charter elementary school in Kansas City, Missouri, will interview student-athletes and coaches. Third-graders McKinley Tucker and Kyree Harbour along with fourth-graders Maceio Jones and Kinsley Sowell will participate in the event. Content created by the Kid Reporters will be shared throughout the basketball season.

Northern Iowa football coach Mark Farley says the Panthers need to eliminate mistakes as they get ready to host 11th ranked North Dakota. The Panthers had two interceptions, lost three fumbles and had no chance in a 41-6 loss at top ranked South Dakota State.

Farley says the Panthers need to move on but not forget what happened.

The road does not get any easier. North Dakota is the second of three straight rated opponents for the Panthers.

North Dakota is 4-2 after a 49-24 win over in-state rival North Dakota State.

North Dakota quarter Tommy Schuster (shoo-stir is completing 73 percent of his passes and his mobility is an added concern.

The Panthers are 3-3.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa field hockey freshman Dionne van Aalsum has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after tallying two goals in top ten win over No. 5 Louisville. It was announced Monday by the conference office.

Van Aalsum has been awarded Big Ten Offensive Player of Week twice this season (Sept. 11, Sept. 18) and Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times this season (Aug. 26, Sept. 5, Sept. 11). The Castricum, Netherlands, native leads the nation with 24 goals, 54 points, 1.79 goals per game, and 3.86 points per game.

The Hawkeyes’ win over No. 5 Louisville was their fifth win against a ranked opponent this season. Iowa previously downed No. 12 Wake Forest, No. 1 North Carolina, No. 19 UAlbany, and No. 14 Michigan.

The Hawkeyes lead the nation in scoring margin (2.86). Iowa ranks second in shutouts (8), shutouts per game (.57), goals against average (.64), and save percentage (.830), third in goals (49), goals per game (3.50) and scoring average (3.50), and fifth in points per game (9.43) and winning percentage (.857)

No. 6 Iowa (12-2) travels to No. 10 Maryland (12-3) on Friday for a conference matchup at 4 p.m.

(St. Louis, MO) – In Drake’s 52-21 win over St. Thomas last Saturday, quarterback Luke Bailey played lights out. The Pioneer Football League announced that Bailey has been named to the Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week.

The 52 points in the game were the most that Drake has scored since September 15, 2018, and the most in a conference game since 52-7 over Jacksonville in 2017. Luke Bailey passed for a career-high 411 yards and had five touchdowns which are the most thrown in a single game by a Drake player since Grant Kraemer as he had six in 2018 against Missouri S&T. His 411 passing yards were the most by a Drake quarterback since Kraemer passed for 445 in 2017 against Valparaiso.

St. Thomas had not allowed that many points in a game since 2007 when they allowed 54 against St. Olaf. Drake takes their big win with them to San Diego for a game against the Toreros this Saturday, October 21st at 4:00 p.m.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s wrestling team released the details of the 2023-24 season on Monday. The Hawkeyes will host two home duals inside of Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Notes about the 2023-24 season:

• Iowa opens the season on Nov. 4 in Pennsylvania where they will face East Stroudsburg University in the Hawkeye’s first ever dual. They conclude the weekend at the Princeton Tiger Collegiate Open on Nov. 5
• The Hawkeyes will host their first ever dual in Carver Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 12 as they welcome Sacred Heart, Presbyterian and Lindenwood. They will host a second home dual on Jan. 21 with teams to be announced at a later date.
• Iowa will be represented at the Missouri Valley College Open in Marshall, Missouri (Nov.17-18) and the North Central College Open in Naperville, Illinois (Dec. 10).
• The team will travel to Las Vegas to compete in the Las Vegas Desert Duals on Dec. 17.
• Iowa will close out the 2023 calendar year competing at the Soldier Salute at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa Dec. 29-30.
• The Hawkeyes open the 2024 calendar year at the National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa Jan. 5-6.
• Iowa will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the Indiana Tech Warrior Duals and Open Jan. 26-27.
• They close out the regular season on the road at the University of Sioux Falls on Jan. 31
• The postseason will begin with the NCWWC Regional Championships Feb. 23-24 and finish at the National Championships on March 8-9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Iowa announced in September 2021 it would become the first Division I Power Five school to add women’s wrestling.
