AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State announced Friday that former Marshall guard DeAndre Kane will play for the Cyclones next season. Kane, who averaged 15.1 points and ranked 11th nationally with seven assists per game last season, has one year of eligibility left. Kane figures to challenge for the starting job at point guard for Iowa State, which lost four perimeter players from last year’s NCAA tournament team. Kane scored nearly 1,500 points in three seasons at Marshall.

Coach Fred Hoiberg says Kane will add “great versatility” to the Cyclones, while Kane says Iowa State’s up-tempo style was a major draw.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration for Iowa, making federal funds available to 19 counties that were battered by severe storms and flooding in April. The declaration signed Friday covers a period from April 17 to 30 in 19 counties, including Ringgold, in the KJAN listening area.
