* AT 342 AM CDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN DUE TO THUNDERSTORMS. THIS WILL CAUSE URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING IN THE ADVISORY AREA. UP TO THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN RINGGOLD COUNTY AND TAYLOR COUNTY, UNTIL 1030 AM CDT.

* AT 432 AM CDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. UP TO THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE… BEDFORD…LENOX…NEW MARKET…CLEARFIELD…BLOCKTON…GRAVITY… SHARPSBURG…REDDING…BENTON…CONWAY…MALOY…DELPHOS… ATHELSTAN…LAKE OF THREE FIRES STATE PARK AND BEDFORD MUNICIPAL AIRPORT.

Cardinals extend scoreless streak to 36 innings in 3-0 win

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Matt Carpenter hit a leadoff home run, Jaime Garcia pitched two-hit ball for seven innings and the St. Louis Cardinals made it three straight shutout victories with a 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.

The Cardinals have thrown 36 consecutive scoreless innings since the fourth inning of Wednesday’s 13-inning 4-3 win. Michael Wacha won his team-leading 13th game, stopping Cincinnati 3-0 on Thursday. Lance Lynn beat Milwaukee 6-0 Friday night in the opener of the three-game series.

On Saturday, Garcia (4-4) walked four, struck out five and allowed Jean Segura’s hit in the first and Elian Herrera’s in the third. The left-hander won for the first time in three starts since coming off the 15-day disabled list on July 28 with a strained left groin.

 

Suspicious death investigation after body found near bike path

Officials with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and Dallas County authorities are conducting an investigation into a suspicious death along a bike trail. According to KCCI in Des Moines, a body was found on a bike path Saturday morning.

The body was found on the bike path between Waukee and Dallas Center. The DCI is checking with local law enforcement and the missing person’s database. An autopsy will be performed Monday. No other details have been released at this time.

CHARLES “DOC” EARLY, 91, of Harlan died Friday, August 7th in Earling.  Memorial Services for CHARLES “DOC” EARLY will be held Friday, August 14th at 3:00pm in the First Baptist Church in Harlan. Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Two Red Oak men arrested for burglary, one other suspect found (UPDATE)

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Red Oak men Friday night on Burglary and Criminal Mischief charges.  At approximately 8:45pm Friday Sheriff’s Officials arrested 21-year-old Ryan Kier of Red Oak and at approximately 10:45pm Officers arrested 24-year-old Aaron Gar Nelson of Red Oak both for Burglary in the 3rd Degree and 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief.  Both arrests are in connection with an incident that took place on July 11, 2015 at 1655 Ironwood Avenue in which a vehicle was damaged and a residence burglarized.  An additional suspect sought in the case, 22-year-old Timothy John Jennings of Red Oak, turned himself in to the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center at approximately 8:00am Saturday after hearing he was being sought by authorities.

Forensic evidence collected from the crime scene led to the arrests.  All three suspects are being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $5,000 bond.  The Red Oak Police Department assisted in the investigation and arrests.
