CLIFF SHERIFF, 82, of Greenfield, died Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.  Funeral services for CLIFF SHERIFF will be held 11-a.m. Friday, Feb. 11th, at the Greenfield United Methodist Church. Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield has the arrangements.

Open Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield. Family Visitation:  The family will greet friends on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.

Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.

A private family burial for Cliff Sheriff will be held in the Hebron Cemetery, rural Orient, Iowa, with a luncheon to follow the at the Greenfield UMC.

Memorials may be directed to the Cliff Sheriff Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.

His wife – Eileen Sheriff, of Greenfield.

His daughters – Kristy Sheriff, of Corydon; Heidi (Mark) Crawford, of Creston, and Jody Sheriff, of Greenfield.

His brothers – Wendell Sheriff and Bruce (Gerry) Sheriff, all of Greenfield.

3 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

CLARENCE BONER, 83, of Atlantic (& formerly of Omaha), died Friday, Feb. 4th, at Cass Health in Atlantic. No services are planned for CLARENCE BONER at this time. Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic is assisting the family.

Tesla driver clocked at 124 mph on Hwy 30

The Iowa State Patrol’s District 11 Office  in Cedar Rapids, Sunday, posted on social media, a picture of a Tesla pulled over for traveling 124 mph on Highway 30, in Linn County. The photo caption read “We tell motorists TIME and TIME again that SPEED is one of the leading contributing factors in crashes. #speedkills Clearly, this Tesla driver from yesterday wasn’t worried or listening. Maybe a fine and possible loss of driving privileges will help them understand?”

Adair County Sheriff’s report, 2/6/22

(Greenfield, Iowa) – The Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Sunday (Today), released a report on an arrest and an incident. At around 7:12-p.m., Saturday, 55-year-old Matthew Eric Browning, of Council Bluffs, was arrested by Greenfield Police, on an Adair County warrant for Violation of a Protective Order, and on a Pottawattamie County warrant for Violation of Probation. He was being held without bond on the Adair County warrant until making an initial court appearance, and on a $2,000 bond on the Pott. County warrant.

On Feb. 1st, Stuart Police arrested 50-year-old Scotty Lee Coe, of Stuart, for Driving While Barred. He was released the following day on a $2,000 cash or surety bond.

(Sidney, Iowa) – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports eight arrests took place from January 24th through February 5th.

Three of the arrests took place on Saturday (2/5): 45-year-old Donald Ryan, of Shenandoah, was arrested on a Fremont County Warrant for Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense; 48-year-old David Ryan, of Shenandoah, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, 3rd Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving while Barred, Habitual Violator, and 39-year-old Bobbi Jo Cristo, of Shenandoah, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine 2nd Offense, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Feb. 2nd, 30-year-old Cassandra Rodriguez, of Sidney, was arrested for Simple Assault, and 25-year-old Brianna Kelley, of Sidney, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

There were two arrests on Jan. 29th, in Fremont County: 49-year-old Timothy Fantroy, of Omaha, Nebraska was arrested on a Fremont County warrant for Forgery; and 23-year-old Brandon Logan, of Sidney, was arrested for a Fremont County warrant for Child Endangerment.

And, on January 24th, 20-year-old Cory McKinstry, of Hamburg, was arrested for a Fremont County warrant for Child Endangerment.

Red Oak woman arrested early Sunday morning

(Red Oak, Iowa) – Red Oak Police, early this (Sunday) morning, arrested 32-year-old Mildred Helenora Douglas. The woman was taken into custody at around 4-a.m., in the 1700 block of N. 4th Street, on a valid Montgomery County warrant for Harassment in the 3rd Degree, and Public Intoxication. Douglas was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $2,000 cash-only bond.

Iowa State women roll past Oklahoma State

The Iowa State women’s basketball team pulled out a 76-58 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.

The Cyclones grabbed the lead early with a 28-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter and didn’t relent much the rest of the way.

Emily Ryan scored 18 points and Lexi Donarski added 17 for the Cyclones. Iowa State shot 49% from the field and 46% from three. The Cyclones improved to 20-3 overall and 9-2 in the Big 12.

Lauren Fields led Oklahoma State with 19 points as they fall to 6-14 overall and 1-10 in the Big 12.

Next up for Iowa State is a road trip to face TCU next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

UNI wins overtime battle over Drake

For the second time in two weeks in men’s hoops on Saturday. This time the Panthers out-dueled the Bulldogs 74-69 at the Knapp Center.

Roman Penn forced overtime with a layup and free throw with 13 seconds remaining in The UNI Panthers and Drake Bulldogs went to overtime for the regulation. In overtime the Panthers held the Bulldogs to just one field goal on ten attempts. UNI converted on their last 5 free throw attempts to secure the road win.

Noah Carter led the Panthers with a game-high 23 points. Trae Berhow added 16pts and Tywhon Pickford had 8 points and 12 rebounds. The Panthers improved to 13-9 overall and 8-3 in the Valley. The win vaulted them into second place in the league and snapped Drake’s four game win streak.

Drake had five players finish in double-figures, led by 15 from Tucker DeVries. Garrett Sturtz dropped in 10 points and had 11 rebounds.

Next up for the Panthers is a Wednesday home game against Southern Illinois at 7:00 p.m.

Drake will host Missouri State on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Iowa State stumbles at Texas

The Texas Longhorns outscored Iowa State 38-18 in the second half and came away with a 63-41 win in Austin on Saturday afternoon.

The Cyclones shot a miserable 28.6% from the field and only 13.3% from three point range. Iowa State also turned the ball over 18 times in the loss.

Izaiah Brockington scored 12 points and Tyrese Hunter had 10 for ISU. The Cyclones fall to 16-7 on the season.

Texas was led by 14 points each from Marcus Carr and Andrew Jones. The Longhorns move to 17-6 on the season.
