CINCINNATI (AP) — The Chicago Cubs have promoted right-hander Joel Peralta from the minors to help their bullpen for the start of a series at the Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs signed the 40-year-old reliever this month after he was released by Seattle, where he was 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA. Chicago’s bullpen struggled during a 1-6 slump last week. Manager Joe Maddon said Monday that Peralta will be a boost in the clubhouse as well, comparing it to having another coach to help the younger players.

Right-handed reliever Gerardo Concepcion was optioned to Triple-A Iowa. He gave up a run during a 6-1 loss to the Marlins on Sunday. The bullpen has been hit hard in Chicago’s last four losses.

Missing TN man found

News

June 27th, 2016 by Ric Hanson

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office reported just before 2-p.m. today (Monday), a Tennessee man who was missing and believed to have been lost somewhere in the southern part of the County, had been found. According to reports, Deputy Jess Swenson found Frank Dietz’ large, black Ford 2012 truck located near a pond behind several trees, at around 11:55-a.m.  Upon their arrival, the deputies and trooper approached the vehicle only to find that no one was in or around the truck. A search by the deputies and volunteer fire departments and ambulance led to Dietz being found 20-minutes later by a Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department crew, at 320th and Ranch Trail.

Authorities reported that although Dietz was disoriented and dehydrated, he was expected to be okay. The man had apparently spent a couple of days walking in the area. The Sheriff’s department at around 9:25-a.m. Monday, put out an alert, asking the public and rural property owners for help in finding the man, because a triangulation of his cell phone indicated he was in the area. At the time, they said Dietz indicated he was sick and disoriented.

The Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Stuart Police Department and Rescue units from Stuart and Menlo. Authorities also thank the public for their help in keeping an eye out for the man and his truck.
