(Greenfield, Iowa) – The Adair County Sheriff’s Office reports three arrests. There were two separate arrests on Oct. 4th:

30-year-old Alyssa Marie Krzycki, of Orient, was arrested by an Adair County Deputy, for Domestic Abuse Assault by impeding air/blood flow, after she allegedly choked her male victim while he was having a panic attack. He told the Deputy Krzycki left him barely able to breath, and gasping for air. He mentioned also, that she had stabbed the man in the stomach, but the Deputy did not see any evidence of a wound or injuries to his neck.

The Deputy did note in his report, that the victim may have been in the process of harming himself, by hitting his own head against the wall. Kryzcki chose not to make a statement to the Deputy, but mentioned that the man she allegedly assaulted, was on probation, and she did not wish him to get into trouble, which could have resulted in his getting a 90-day sentence. She and the victim are household members residing together at the time of the alleged assault.

Kryzcki was transported to the Adair County Jail and posted bond six-hours later.

The second arrest on Oct. 4th, took place following a traffic stop, in Adair. A Police Officer in Adair arrested 49-year-old Scott William McAfee, of Adair, for OWI/2nd offense, after his Breath/Alcohol Test results measured .118%. McAfee was cited and later released from custody.

And, on Oct. 5th, an Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy in Stuart, arrested 29-year-old Caleb Jeffrey Fairchild, of Stuart. He was taken into custody on a Madison County Felony warrant charging Fairchild with three counts of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree, and one count of Indecent Contact with a Child. The man was turned over to the custody of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department and held without bond, pending a court appearance.

(Radio Iowa) – Russian hackers targeted the websites of more than a dozen U.S. airports this (Monday) morning, including the Des Moines International Airport. A group linked to the Kremlin has claimed credit for the online attacks, which did not affect flights or air traffic control, but took down the websites of airports in New York, Chicago and Atlanta as well as Des Moines.

Fly D-S-M dot com (FLYDSM.com) was down for a couple of hours, but has been restored. The website lets travelers check flight departures and arrivals in Des Moines — information that is available separately through each airline’s website.

(Glenwood, Iowa) – The Mills County Sheriff’s Office reports five separate arrests took place over the past few days. Two people were arrested on separate charges, Sunday: Jessie Amanda Harman, of Glenwood, was arrested for the second day in a row, on a Driving while Revoked charge (Bond $1,000); And, 36-year-old Breanna Richelle Butterfield, of Council Bluffs, was arrested for Driving While Barred ($2,000 bond).

There were two people arrested Saturday evening, in Mills County: 34-year-old Jessie Amanda Harman. of Glenwood, was arrested for Driving While Revoked ($1,000 bond); and, 37-year-old Jacob Ryan Jones, of Glenwood, was arrested Saturday for Violation of a No Contact Order. His bond was set at $300.

At around 1:30-a.m. Friday, Oct. 7th, Mills County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 58-year old Ricky Curtis Crawford,of Hastings, for Domestic Abuse Assault. Crawford was being held without bond in the Mills County Jail.

December 10, 2022 (DES MOINES, IA) – Today, the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced that the Butchery Innovation and Revitalization program is open and will accept applications November 1 through December 21, 2022. The program, created during the 2021 legislative session to strengthen Iowa’s food supply chain and support rural development, was so successful legislators renewed it during the 2022 session. Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded to eligible businesses, with a total of $1,000,000 available through the program in the current fiscal year.

Applicants must meet all requirements outlined in House File 857 and in state administrative rules and must have received an assessment from the Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS). The CIRAS assessment submission period is from October 10 to November 28, 2022. The IEDA application must be completed after receiving the assessment report.

Requirements include that a business must:

Be incorporated or authorized to do business in Iowa
Employ fewer than 50 people
Be licensed by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) or be able to document its work to become licensed by IDALS

(DES MOINES, Iowa) – The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced two additional Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) food assistance programs today for families with eligible children.

The federal Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 and Other Extensions Act allows states to issue emergency food assistance benefits for the Summer 2022 for Children Under Six and the Summer 2022 for School-Aged Children P-EBT programs.

The Summer 2022 for Children Under Six program provides $391 per eligible child who received SNAP benefits during the months of June, July, and August 2022. Benefits will be issued to the family’s SNAP-EBT card between October 11 and 20.

The Summer 2022 for School Aged Children program provides $391 per child who were in grades K-12 during the 21-22 school year. Additional information, including eligibility details, can be found on our web site (link below). Issuance details are being finalized, but it is anticipated that benefits will be issued to eligible children on new EBT cards mailed by the end of November.

These programs are in addition to the School Year 21-22 for Children Under Six program announced last month.

“High food costs have affected every Iowan, and we hear every day how low income parents continue to struggle to meet their children’s nutritional needs,” said Janee Harvey, HHS’ Division Administrator of Adult, Child, and Family Services. “These additional benefits will make it a little bit easier for parents to make ends meet and provide healthy, and nutritious meals for their children.”

Darron Baynes

(Davenport, Iowa) – Officials with the Iowa Department of Corrections today (Monday) reported a man convicted of Robbery 1st Degree in Scott County, failed to report back to the Davenport Work Release Center as required Friday. Darron Javares Paul Baynes, is a 25-year-old Black male, 6-feet 4-inches tall. He weighs 185 pounds. Baynes was admitted to the work release facility on Oct. 5, 2022. Persons with information on Baynes’s whereabouts should contact local police.
