The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports a woman and her two children escaped injury following a rollover accident Friday afternoon, southeast of Stanton. Official say 28-year old Erin Nicole Johnson, of Villisca, was turning north onto Q Avenue from 250th Street at around 4:15-p.m. Friday, when she lost sight of the road due to dust created by another vehicle.

When the  2012 Dodge Durango she was driving got too close to the shoulder, the loose gravel pulled the SUV into the east ditch, causing it to roll over onto its top. Johnson refused treatment for herself and the children, but the trio were later transported to the Clarinda Regional Hospital to be checked out. The Durango, registered to 31-year old Lane Richard Johnson, of  Villisca, was a total loss.

The vote came amid media reports that the discovery of sexual emails Sebring exchanged with her lover hastened her departure from a similar job in Iowa. Sebring was to assume the superintendent’s position on July 1. She abruptly resigned as superintendent of the Des Moines school system last month, saying she needed to attend to family matters ahead of her move. Sheriff’s officials in Page County say a Red Oak woman suffered burns and scrapes associated with an air bag deployment, after her vehicle made contact with a tractor Friday evening, while attempting to pass the implement. The accident happened about 2 and one-half miles east of Essex.

Authorities says 35-year old Jaymie June McAdams, of Red Oak, was traveling east on Highway 48 between G-and H-Avenues at around 5-p.m. Friday, when she attempted to pass a John Deere tractor which was pulling a grain wagon.

The right front side of McAdams’ 1995 Ford Taurus hit the grain wagon, and continued to make contact with the wagon as she continued east. Damage to her car was estimated at about $3,000, while there was no damage to the grain wagon or tractor. The driver of the tractor, David Rydberg, of Essex, was not injured during the accident.

One of the suspects wanted in connection with Thursday’s brutal beating of a Council Bluffs woman who was found handcuffed in a pickup truck, has been taken into custody. According to Omaha Television station KETV, members of the Metro area Fugitive Task Force took 38-year old Brian Bey, of Crescent, into custody after shooting him with a Taser. Bey and 32-year old Travis Labno, of Omaha, are accused of kidnapping and beating 29-year Tabitha Proplesch.

Proplesch remained in the Creighton University Medical Center’s intensive care unit Friday, after being brought to the facility Thursday afternoon. A motorist called the police after spotting the woman slumped over the wheel of a broken-down pickup truck just after 2 p.m. Thursday. The truck was found alongside Mormon Bridge Road by Interstate 29. Investigators say Proplesch was handcuffed, duct taped and severely beaten.

The woman managed to tell investigators her attackers planned to dispose of her body, but the truck ran out of gas. Authorities say one of the men stopped at a nearby home and asked some roofers for help. One of the roofers, whose identity was not released, was able to identify the man on surveillance video for the investigators.

KETV says Bey was taken down by authorities in the parking lot of an Omaha bar and grill, Friday night. His alleged accomplice remains at large and is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the location of Travis Labno, is urged to call the Pottawattamie County Communications Center at 712-328-5737, or 9-1-1.
