SHERRY DICKERSON, 80, of Boone (formerly of Massena), died Saturday, September 12, 2020. A Celebration of Life for SHERRY DICKERSON will be held at 11-a.m. Saturday, September 19th, at the Nishna Valley Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be practiced and the family encourages you to wear a mask.

Visitation will be held at the Steen Funeral Home in Massena, on Friday, from 5-until 7-p.m., and on Saturday, from one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the Nishna Valley Funeral Home in Shenandoah.; Online condolences may be left to the family at www.steenfunerals.com.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sherry’s name to the Shenandoah Marching Band Department.

Burial will be held at a later date.

SHERRY DICKERSON is survived by:

Her daughters – Tracy Dickerson, of Webster City; Angie (Jeff) Smart, of Highland, IL; and Shelby (Tony) Hildreth, of Ogden.

Sister – Shirley Kerkmann, of Massena.

6 grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.

Burn bans lifted 12-p.m. Sept. 14 in Adair & Guthrie Counties

Adair-Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf, said today (Monday), after consulting with the fire chiefs in both counties, the Ban on open burning is officially lifted. The restriction was removed at Noon (Sept. 14). The ban had been implemented Sept. 4th due to extremely dry and often windy conditions.

Lewis Central hosted a varsity only cross country invite at Iowa Western Community College on Saturday. Elizabeth Jordan of Sioux City North won the girls race and Harlan took the girls team title. Jaysen Bouwers of Sioux City North won the boys race and his team won the title as well.

Glenwood Homecoming parade set for Sept. 25th

Officials with the City of Glenwood say the Glenwood Homecoming Parade will be held September 25th, at 1:30-p.m. The Parade will begin at 3rd and Vine Streets and head South on Vine Street to Tyson Street. Various pick up points will be relayed to parents involved in the parade by school messenger. Line up for the parade will be on Vine Street, 3rd Street and N. Chestnut St.

Roads will begin to be closed at 12pm in the area of the lineup and all parade route roads will be closed by 1pm. In order for this tradition to continue the altered the route will have several hand sanitation stations available, parade participants will wear masks, spectators are expected to wear masks, informational posters will be visible and markings will be put on  streets/sidewalks for social distancing.

Authorities in Creston report two arrests. At around 2:10-a.m. today (Monday, 9/14), 47-year old Chuck Johnson, of Des Moines, was arrested at the Union County Law Enforcement Center, on the charge of Public Intoxication. Johnson wass being held in the Union County Jail on a $300 bond. And, Friday night, 29-year old Samuel Vermulm, of Creston, was arrested at the Creston Wal-Mart, for Theft in the 5th Degree. Vermulm was cited and released at the scene, on a Summons to Appear.
