Fatal accident in Pott. County Monday night

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office reports one person died during a single-vehicle accident, Monday night, south of Crescent. Law enforcement and Crescent Fire were dispatched to the scene at Old Lincoln Highway and Sharon Drive, at around 6:15-p.m., after a vehicle struck a power pole. Upon arrival, deputies located the lone occupant, 52-year-old Daniel Craig, of Crescent, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Next of kin was notified and power was restored to the area by MidAmerican Energy. Traffic Investigators responded to the scene and the cause of the accident is still under investigation. No further information is available at this time.

Waterloo shooting victim was former Wartburg College basketball player

(Radio Iowa) – Authorities have identified the victim of a recent homicide in Waterloo as a former Wartburg College basketball player. Police say 31-year-old Elijah Hunt died of the injuries he suffered in a December 27th shooting, an incident that occurred around 4:30 AM. No arrests have been made in the case. Police say the shooting remains under investigation. According to the Wartburg men’s basketball record book, Hunt played for the Knights from 2008-2010. The Bollingbrook, Illinois, native formerly lived in Waverly and Waterloo.

Pickup hits power pole in Creston

A pickup truck struck a power pole early Monday morning, in Creston, but no one was injured. Creston Police report 35-year old Manuel Luke Richardson, of Creston, was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 westbound on Fremont Street at around 2:15-a.m., when the vehicle ran off the road at a curve, and struck an Alliant Energy-owned power pole, causing $1,000 damage to the pole. The pickup sustained $2,000 damage. Authorities say Richardson was driving too fast for conditions. No citations were issued.

Man arrested after shooting in Fort Dodge

(Radio Iowa) – A man who was found with a gunshot wound Monday morning at a residence in Fort Dodge was able to identify one of the men involved. Minutes later a Deputy spotted the suspect vehicle, the vehicle refused to stop for the officer and ended up crashing after a pursuit. Police then took 29-year-old Tyler S. Rosburg into custody.

Rosburg is charged with first-degree robbery and firearm possession by a felon. The other two suspects have not been identified. The condition of the man who was shot is not known.

Riverton man arrested on drug charges in Fremont County

Fremont County Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports the arrest on drug charges Monday night, of 39-year-old Joshua Martin, from Riverton. Martin was arrested following a traffic stop at around 7:52-p.m.  Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputies had stopped a 2005 Cadillac Escalade driven by Martin, in the 2300 block of 250th Street, near Riverton. During the traffic stop, the Fremont County K9 Unit deployed K9 “Danken,” who alerted to the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle. Martin refused to cooperate during the traffic stop, and attempted to flee the scene, however, his vehicle became disabled in the snow a few yards from the traffic stop.

Martin was placed under arrest for:

  •  Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Methamphetamine, a Serious Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor
  • Eluding, a Serious Misdemeanor

His bond was set at $3,600.
