Road closures to affect area travel, beginning Monday

News

July 18th, 2021 by Ric Hanson

Area residents are being advised of road work that will affect your travel plans. Beginning Monday, July 19th, the City of Elk Horn will close the intersection of Washington Street (F-58) and Salem Street, for street and storm sewer repairs.  Snyder and Associates Engineer Dave Sturm says the closure will be for up to two weeks, depending on weather.

And, as we’ve previously mentioned, road construction work on U.S. Highway 6 between Iowa Highway 71 near Atlantic, and Iowa Highway 48 near Lewis, will require intermittent lane closures weekdays from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. beginning on Monday, July 19 until August 5, weather permitting.

During the project, traffic will be controlled with flaggers and a pilot car while work is taking place. A 16-foot lane width limit will be in effect.
