(Radio Iowa) – Iowa State coach Matt Campbell says it will up to the leadership to help prevent a letdown this week. The 22nd ranked Cyclones climbed back into the Big 12 race with a win over Oklahoma State and now get set to visit West Virginia.

A concern for the Cyclone defense is West Virginia running back Leddie Bell.
The Cyclones picked up a victory in their last visit to West Virginia but Morgantown is always a tough place to play.
(Radio Iowa) – Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says senior corner Riley Moss will not play in Saturday’s game at Wisconsin. Moss suffered a knee injury in the ninth ranked Hawkeyes’ October ninth win against Penn State and missed the loss to Purdue a week later.
Ferentz says a young offensive line needs to grow up for the stretch run. Iowa is only averaging 116 yards of rushing per game and just over three yards per carry.
That offensive line goes up against the top run defense in the Big Ten. The Badgers allow just over 53 yards on the ground per game.
Iowa beat the Badgers during the COVID shortened season 28-7 in Iowa City. It snapped Wisconsin’s four game winning streak in the series.
Wisconsin rushed for 342 yards last week in a win at Purdue. Ferentz says the Badgers combine ball control with the ability to hit big plays in the run game.

Police in Red Oak, Tuesday, arrested a man wanted on a warrant. Authorities say 58-year-old Rogelio Hernandez, of Red Oak, was arrested at around 5:10-p.m. on an active warrant for Driving While Barred. He was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
RICK D. BYBEE, 72, of Audubon, died Sunday, Oct. 24th, at Atlantic Specialty Care. A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering for RICK BYBEE will be held from 3-until 6-p.m Saturday, Oct. 30th, at Vic’s Main Tap, in Audubon. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is assisting the family.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Caitlin Clark was named to the Associated Press Preseason All-America team on Tuesday.
Clark, who is the first Iowa Women’s Basketball player named a preseason AP All-American, is joined by Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith, UConn’s Paige Bueckers, Kentucky’s Rhyne Howard and South Carolina’s Aliyah Boston.
During her freshman campaign, the West Des Moines, Iowa, native averaged 26.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game in 30 games. Clark was named co-Freshman of the Year and first team All-America by The Athletic, USBWA, and WBCA, and second-team All-America by Associated Press, leading the nation in total assists (214), total points (799), points per game (26.6), field goals made (266) and 3-pointers made (116), and ranked second in assists per game (7.1) and 3-pointers per game (3.87).

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Caitlin Clark was named Preseason Big Ten Player of the Year by the coaches and earned unanimous Preseason All-Big Ten honors, joining junior Monika Czinano on the Preseason All-Big Ten team, the conference office announced Tuesday.
During her freshman campaign, Clark averaged 26.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game in 30 games, setting the Iowa freshman record with 26.6 points per game recording the fourth-highest single season points per game in Iowa history, and was the 2020-21 NCAA Division I scoring leader. She was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and earned unanimous All-Big Ten honors.
The West Des Moines, Iowa, native was named national co-Freshman of the Year and first-team All-America by The Athletic, USBWA, and WBCA after leading the nation in total assists (214), total points (799), points per game (26.6), field goals made (266) and 3-pointers made (116), and ranked second in assists per game (7.1) and 3-pointers per game (3.87). In early August, Clark won her third gold medal with USA Basketball and was named the FIBA U19 World Cup Most Valuable Player. The USA Team Captain amassed 100 points, 39 assists, 37 rebounds, seven steals, and six blocks in seven contests.
Czinano, a two-time All-Big Ten selection, earns the second preseason honor of her career. The Watertown, Minnesota, native finished last season leading the country in shooting percentage (66.8) and ranked second nationally, shooting 254 of 380 from the field.
As a junior, Czinano averaged 19.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game on the season. She scored in double figures during 28 contests, tabbing 11 20-point games — nine against conference opponents.

(Radio Iowa) – The leader of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council is hoping the Iowa Legislature takes action after a recent Iowa Supreme Court decision preventing the state Board of Medical Examiners from releasing preliminary information in the investigations of complaints against doctors. F-O-I executive director, Randy Evans, says the Medical Board had done this for many years.
“I think the board took the position that they were only making public selective details of the case that informed the public on what the legal basis for the charges were,” Evans says. Evans says the Supreme Court ruling found the law doesn’t allow information to be released until the final settlement.
“They point to the definitive language in the statute — which said that the findings of fact and the conclusion of the board, their final ruling was a public record. But that the court’s opinion was that there was no wiggle room to make any of that public earlier in the case,” he says. Evans says this is important information that could impact the lives of people seeking medical treatment.
“If there is a belief by the Board of Medicine that there is a legal basis for disciplinary charges to be filed — we believe that the citizens are entitled to know that to make a decision on which doctors they are going to patronize,” according to Evans. Evans says doctors do need to be protected from unsubstantiated claims — but he believes the Medical Board has done a good job of investigating. He says there are some 600 accusations each year against the 66-hundred physicians in the state.
“There’s only 25 to 30 cases that they file disciplinary charges in. So, to me that says that the Medical Board and its staff of investigators are doing a pretty thorough job of vetting these accusations to ensure they are not simply someone who dislikes a particular physician, or that has a vendetta,” Evans says. He says the justices noted the tough situation of protecting the public and the physicians in this case.
“The court’s opinion takes note that there are factors affecting public health and safety that the legislature may want to balance against the current wording in the statute,” Evans says. Evans says the F-O-I Council supports the legislature looking at the issue and he says it’s likely the medical board will pursue action with the legislature. The case involved allegations against former University of Iowa doctor, Domenico Calcaterra, a cardiothoracic surgeon, who now practices out of state.
He reached a settlement where he accepted a citation and warning and agreed to pay a five-thousand-dollar civil penalty. Calcaterra later sued, saying information still on the medical board’s website was hurting his medical career.
