LYLE J. KLINE, 48, of Harlan died Monday, November 15th at home. A Memorial Service for LYLE J. KLINE will be held on Friday, November 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Little Sioux Church of Christ in Little Sioux. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Father: Bruce Kline of Woodbine.

Girlfriend: Rose Steinkuehler of Harlan.

Sons: David Kline of Amarillo, TX. Jacob Kline of Sheridan, WY. Matthew (Melody) Kline of Amarillo, TX.

Brothers: Bruce (Cindy) Kline of El Dorado, AR. Daniel Kline of Canyon, TX.

Sisters: Vicki (James) Story of Woodbine. Brenda Qualls of Woodbine. Tara Espedal of Dunlap, TX.

Teen caught traveling at 120 mph in eastern Iowa

(Cedar Rapids) – The Iowa State Patrol, Sunday, said a teen was pulled-over for extreme speeding, in eastern Iowa. In a social media post , officials said a 17-year-old driver was stopped while traveling 120 mph on Highway 30 in Linn County. “The driver was not only driving at a high rate of speed, but also had 2 minor passengers in the vehicle with them – the youngest being only 9 years old,” the state patrol said on Facebook.

EARL ALBERT VORRATH, 88, of rural Casey, died Tue., Nov. 16th, at home. Funeral services for EARL VORRATH will be held 11-a.m. Monday, Nov. 22nd, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Adair.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Adair Fire Department or Ave of Flags at Sunnyhill Cemetery and may be mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home (P.O. Box 532, Atlantic, IA 50022).

Burial will be held at the Sunnyhill Cemetery just south of Adair, IA.

He is survived by his loving wife – Nola Vorrath.

His sons – Arlynn (Jane) Vorrath, Leland Vorrath, and Terry (Carla Goetz) Vorrath of Adair

JANELLE FERN EVANS, 86, of Harlan, died Saturday, Nov. 20th, at Myrtue Medical Center, in Harlan. A Graveside service for JANELLE EVANS will be held 2-p.m. Wed.,Nov. 24th, in the Monroe Township Cemetery at Walnut. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Creston Police report, 11/22/21: Vandalism; break-in & 4 arrested

(Creston, Iowa) – The Creston Police Department says a woman from Creston reported on Saturday, vandalism had occurred at Rainbow Park (601 S. Park St.). At the scene, a blow-up “Nutcracker” was punctured, and strings of lights were damaged. The loss was estimated at $42. And, on Sunday, a man from Afton reported to Creston Police, that his storage unit in the 900 block of S. Walnut Street had been broken into. Multiple items were taken. A dollar value of the loss was not available.

Late Saturday night, Creston Police arrested 18-year old Miracle Ann Freeman, of Creston, on an Assault charge. She was released from the scene with a citation. Also arrested Saturday night, was 23-year-old Kole Andrew Lovely, of Creston, for Harassment in the 2nd Degree. His bond at the Union County Jail was set at $1,000.

Late Friday morning, Creston Police arrested 31-year-old Brooke Marie Carter, of Creston. She was taken into custody at the Union County Courthouse, on a Union County warrant for Driving While Barred. Carter was later released on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. A few hours earlier, 39-year-old Charles Edward Keeton, of Creston, was arrested at the Union County Law Enforcement Center, on two outside agency warrants. His cash bond was set at $25,300.

 

Chiefs defense comes up big in 19-9 win over Dallas

The Kansas City Chiefs sacked Dak Prescott 5 times and intercepted two passes to help the Chiefs come away with a 19-9 win on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. Prescott was held to just 216 yards passing and the Cowboys were held out of the end zone.

Travis Kelce ran for a touchdown to go along with his 74 yards receiving and Clyde Edwards-Helaire had 63 yards and a score in his return to the lineup.

Kansas City improved to 7-4 on the season and the Cowboys fell to 7-3. The Chiefs now head into a bye week before playing the Broncos on December 5th.

Iowa State men ride hot shooting to win over Grambling

The Iowa State men’s basketball team hit 13 threes and ran away from Grambling 82-47 on Sunday evening to improve to 4-0. The Cyclones the game open with a 13-0 run about 6 minutes into the game and led 49-25 by halftime. The Cyclones shot 52% from 3 point range and 46% from the field.

Aljaz Kunc led Iowa State with 21 points, including 5-5 from three point range. Tristan Enaruna dropped in 15 and Tyrese Hunter and Tre Jackson each scored 12 for the Cyclones.

Iowa State improved to 4-0 on the season and will now head to Brooklyn, New York for the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Cyclones play Xavier on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
