Comments from Coach Hobson: “We had an outstanding day. It is always exciting to win a tournament but extra fun to win our own. Five of our 6 girls finished in the top 12 for an individual medal and the 6th was really close. Baylee Newell struggled on the front 9 with a 49 but came back on the back with a 43. That is what staying positive can do for you. We are still getting to many triple bogeys and above. Erin Olsen had a near hole in one – how exciting would that have been! Brooke Newell shot par on the back 9 – that moves her onto my record sheet for lowest 9 hole score 9 (net).”
The Trojan Boys Golf Tournament was held on Tuesday, May 3rd at Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – The Powerball jackpot is creeping higher again. No one has won the full jackpot since March 2 and the multi-state lottery estimates Wednesday night’s drawing will be worth $348 million. While it’s not chump change, it’s a far cry from the $1.6 billion Powerball prize shared by three winning lottery ticketholders in January, the largest ever jackpot draw in the world.
Powerball says the odds of winning the top prize are one in more than 292 million. Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, as well as the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

In an update to our previous report, Council Bluffs Police said this (Wednesday) morning, that a 60-year old man who was hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning, has died from his injuries. Clifford Guild had been listed in critical condition following the accident that happened at around 8:30-a.m., Tuesday, in the 3800 block of Avenue G. Guild was struck by a vehicle driven by 25-year old Jessica Sawyer, of Council Bluffs. He was transported to Creighton University Medical Center, where he later died.
An initial investigation determined Guild was crossing the street, and for an unknown reason, crossed in front of the vehicle, driven by Sawyer. Authorities said speed and/or alcohol did not appear to have been factors in the accident. The case remains under investigation by the Council Bluffs Police Traffic Unit.
