Audubon police report 08/19/2019

The Audubon Police Department released information on several arrests within the past month.

On July 19th, 22-year-old Brandon William Henderson of Audubon was arrested on an Audubon County Warrant.  Henderson was transported to the Audubon County Jail.

On July 30th, 36-year-old Ashley Sue Hartl of Audubon was arrested for Domestic Abuse Causing Injury.  Hartl was transported to the Audubon County Jail and held to appear before a magistrate.

On August 1st, 35-year-old Joseph Michael Hartl of Audubon was arrested for Violation of No Contact Order.  Hartl appeared before a magistrate and plead guilty to the charge, serving 7 days in jail.

On August 16th, 29-year-old Desiray Michelle Elliott of Lindon was arrested for (4) counts of Credit Card Theft and Ongoing Criminal Conduct.  Elliott is currently being held on $33,000 bond in the Audubon County Jail.

House fire in Wiota Monday morning

A fire at a home in Wiota early this morning caused extensive damage, but no one was injured. Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon reports the blaze at 106 East Street in Wiota happened at around 3:15-a.m.

Firefighters from Wiota, Atlantic and Anita responded to the scene and were there for more than two-hours. Additional information is forthcoming.

Services set for deputy who died after on-duty crash

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Services are being held Monday for a northwest Iowa sheriff’s deputy who died after her patrol vehicle crashed

A Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for Deputy Stephanie Schreurs, who died Tuesday. She was injured Aug. 9 when her vehicle ran off a road while entering a sharp curve in Lyon County. She was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Burial is set at a cemetery in Alvord, Iowa.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered all state flags lowered to half-staff in honor of Schreurs, 24-year veteran of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department.

Council Bluffs Police investigating early morning shooting

Council Bluffs Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning. At 1:54am Officers were dispatched to 2216 27th Avenue at the Best Western for a report of a male with a gunshot wound to his arm. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

No further details are known at this time but Council Bluffs Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 712-328-4728 or anonymous tips can be given by calling 712-328-STOP.

VONDA KOCH, 90, of Neola, died Saturday, Aug. 17th, at Myrtue Medical Center, in Harlan. Funeral services for VONDA KOCH will be held 10:30-a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the United Church of Christ, in Minden. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Avoca has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Mon., Aug. 19th, from 5-until 8-p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6-until 8-p.m.

Burial is in the Minden Cemetery.

VONDA KOCH is survived by:

Her daughter – Sheila Pedersen, of Sequim, WA.

Her sons – Robert (Cheryl) Koch, and Timothy (Doreen) Koch, all of Neola.

Her sisters – Betty Irlbeck, of AZ., and JoAnn Chapman, of IL.

3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

On their rather light agenda, is information with regard to Open Enrollment, and discussion and/or action on: Approving the FFA National Convention; Personnel Hires, Transfers, Resignations, Etc.; and other administrative business.
