The Adair County Sheriff’s Office has released a report on recent arrests. Sheriff Jeff Vandewater says Police in Adair arrested 31-year old Cameshia S. Murray, of Electra, TX., on Oct. 28th. Murray was taken into custody for Interference with Official Acts, and Providing False Information to Law Enforcement. The woman told police she had been punched in the face, and provided a false ID of the alleged assailant to the officer. During a pursuit which involved Cass County Deputies, a man who was arrested said he was looking for his wife, Cameshia. His vehicle was identified by the hotel owners as staying there, and a “stop-and-hold” broadcast was put out. The subject involved in the pursuit, had a different name than the one Murray provided. Murray was released that same day on her Own recognizance.

On Oct. 29th, Adair County Deputies arrested 37-year old John Robert Lemon, of Winterset, on an Adair County Probation Violation warrant. Lemon was being held in the Adair County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. And, on Oct. 30th, the Iowa State Patrol arrested 62-year old Jacqueline Marie Baudler, of Stuart, for Driving While License Denied or Revoked/for OWI Test Failure. NEW HAMPTON, Iowa (AP) — A 19-year-old man charged with first-degree murder in northeast Iowa has been found guilty of a lesser crime. Winneshiek County court records say Dalton Adam, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, was convicted Monday of voluntary manslaughter. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 26. The trial had been moved to Chickasaw County.

He and his friend Jacob Seelinger had been charged after the July 2018 attack on 46-year-old David Hansen. Adam said during his testimony that Hansen punched him after punching Seelinger. Prosecutors say Hansen confronted the pair as they damaged property outside his Decorah home. Hansen was the boyfriend of Seelinger’s mother.

Adam testified that he punched back and knocked down Hansen, who cracked his head on concrete. Adam acknowledged that he and Seelinger kicked and punched Hansen as he lay helpless. Seelinger’s been convicted of second-degree murder and has been sentenced to up to 50 years in prison.

Foundation buying state 4-H camp in central Iowa

News

November 5th, 2019 by Ric Hanson

MADRID, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation says it’s buying Clover Woods Camp & Retreat Center from the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The Natural Heritage Foundation said in a news release Monday that it’s made a deal for all 1,011 acres along the Des Moines River in Boone County. The price won’t be disclosed until the closing later this year.

The 4-H Foundation was formed in 1949 to build the camp. It’s split into separate “villages” and includes a ropes course, climbing tower, swimming pool and 20 miles of trails.
Iowa 4-H Foundation Executive Director Emily Saveraid has said the needs of 4-H participants and their families have changed and they now prefer camping options closer to home. She says the foundation will focus more on camping and other outdoor activities at the county and regional levels.
