The Atlantic Trojans softball team completed their undefeated run through the Hawkeye 10 Conference on Tuesday night with an 8-3 win over Shenandoah. Coach Terry Hinzmann said going 10-0 in the conference was a goal for the squad from the outset of the season and now they made it a reality.
The Trojans took a while to get the bats going and were down 2-0 heading into the fourth. Atlantic would get two across to tie the game in the 4th. Then took the lead with 3 more runs in the 5th and put 3 insurance runs up in the 7th. Alyssa Derby had 2 hits and scored 3 runs. Olivia Engler had 2 hits and 3 RBI. She also had 8 strikeouts in the circle and allowed just 2 hits on the night.
Coach Hinzmann was proud of the way the girls bounced back after a slow start in the game.
Coach Hinzmann said Olivia’s strong performance in the circle allowed the bats time to get going.
The Trojans are now 14-1 overall on the season with one regular season game left at home against Missouri Valley on Thursday night. We’ll have that game on KJAN with pregame at about 7:15 p.m. and first pitch at 7:30 p.m.
