According to the NFL, the High School Player Development program addresses challenges facing high school football programs across the country focusing primarily on underserved communities. HSPD serves as a free resource for both high school players and coaches. The program emphasizes safety and concussion awareness, character development and life skills, and football fundamentals.
The HSPD is also dedicated to character development. It is the NFL’s mission to provide HSPD participants a program that focuses on inspiring excellence in the classroom, community, and on the playing field. The HSPD Site Manager, with the help of his coaches and the National Guard, will discuss at least five character development topics in addition to the topics covered at every camp (Center for Disease Control Player Safety and Concussion Awareness, NCAA Initial Eligibility Requirements, Time Management, Social Media and Bullying).
To register for the camp, or for more information on this program, contact Greg Schoon at 515-240-7847 or by email at greg.schoon@dmschools.org . You can also find more information at http://www.nationalguard.com/events/high-school-player-development .
