 THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER. THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE
 POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL AND A FEW CAPABLE OF PRODUCING
 QUARTER SIZED HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY AND
 TONIGHT.
 
 .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
 
 THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE PERIOD. THE THREAT
 FOR HEAVY RAINFALL…POSSIBLY LEADING TO FLASH FLOODING OR AREAL
 FLOODING WILL REMAIN THROUGH THE PERIOD. THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK FOR
 SEVERE WEATHER MONDAY AND TUESDAY…WITH LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING

 AT 435 AM CDT…EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED THAT FLASH FLOODING WAS
 OCCURRING IN NORTHERN GUTHRIE COUNTY. FLASH FLOODING HAS FORCED THE
 EVACUATION OF SPRINGBROOK STATE PARK…APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES SSW OF
 BAGLEY. FLOODING HAS ALSO BEEN REPORTED ON HIGHWAY 25 IN BAYARD AND
 QUAIL ROAD SOUTH OF BAGLEY.

IZETTA BOPP, 100, a long-time Atlantic resident, died Sun., May 26th, at the Heritage House in Atlantic. Services for IZETTA BOPP will be held at 10:30 AM Fri., May 31st at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. Roland Funeral Service in Atlantic has the arrangements.

Open visitation from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM daily until family meets with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thurs., May 30th at Rolands. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.

Memorials may be directed to the Heritage House or the charity of your choice.

Burial will be in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.

IZETTA BOPP is survived by:

Son, Joe Bopp and wife Donna of Woodlands, TX

Daughter-in-law, Charlotte Bopp of Carmel, IN

Sister-in-law, Norma Anderson of Austin, TX

JAMES KATZER, 76, of Persia , died Sat., May 25th, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. A Mass of Christian Burial service for JAMES KATZER will be held 10:30-a.m. Wed., May 29th, at St. Mary/Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tue., from 5-until 9-p.m, with a Wake service at 7-p.m.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Portsmouth.

His wife – Ruby “Jean” Katzer, of Persia.

His sons – Jim (Becky) Katzer, of Underwood, and Joseph “Jody” (& wife Susie) Katzer, of Council Bluffs.

His daughters – Jill (BOb) Holpuch, of Rocklin, CA, and Janice (Tamer) Sabra, of Lincoln, CA.

Flash Flood Warning until 9-a.m. for Northern Guthrie & Greene Counties.

Memorial Day: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High near 76. Southeast wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 4am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. South southeast wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Accident occurs in front of fire station

No injuries were reported following an accident that occurred in front of the fire station in Red Oak, late Sunday morning. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says a stop light in front of the Red Oak Fire station was red, so that an ambulance could respond to a call. A Chevy Blazer driven by 49-year old Charles Liford, of Red Oak, was stopped at the light, when another Chevy Blazer, driven by 36-year old Salvador Ramos, of Red Oak, was unable to stop in time.

The second SUV rear-ended the first. Ramos was cited for following too close. Damage from the mishap, which happened at around 11:40-a.m. Sunday, was estimated at $5,700.
