THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR COLD AND BLOWING SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY.
* SHORT TERM TRENDS…ISOLATED LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS WILL END BEFORE SUNRISE. WINDS WILL SLOWLY DIMINISH BUT REMAIN BRISK AND GUSTY THROUGH THE MORNING. WIND CHILLS WILL CONTINUE TO FALL FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS…THEN INCREASE BY LATE MORNING.
* WINDS…NORTHWEST AT 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 45 MPH…DECREASING TO 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH BY LATE MORNING.
* TEMPERATURES/WIND CHILL VALUES…TEMPERATURES WILL FALL TO AROUND ZERO ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA BY SUNRISE. WIND CHILLS WILL BOTTOM OUT AROUND 20 BELOW ZERO.
* IMPACTS…FROST BITE CAN OCCUR IN 15 TO 30 MINUTES. PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY INCLUDING HATS AND GLOVES. THE GUSTY WINDS WILL ALSO CAUSE SOME MINOR BLOWING SNOW THAT MAY IMPACT ROADS THIS MORNING.
