The Board of Directors of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) has selected Iowa Public Television (IPTV) as the television provider for its state tournament events.
The three-year agreement will begin with the 2014 Iowa Girls State Basketball Tournament championship games. IPTV will also televise the state finals in soccer, softball and volleyball. There are also plans to broadcast seasonal specials that will recap the swimming & diving, cross country and bowling state tournaments in the winter and the track & field, tennis and golf state championships in the spring.
“We are thrilled to partner with Iowa Public Television,” said IGHSAU Executive Director Mike Dick. “It was very important to us that every Iowan had the opportunity to watch our state tournaments on television. IPTV provides us with that opportunity. We are very happy to have the Iowa Girl showcased alongside all of the quality programming that IPTV provides to millions of Iowans each year.”
“We are extremely thrilled to produce and broadcast the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union Championships showcasing athletes from around the state,” said IPTV Executive Director Molly Phillips. “Iowa Public Television can be received by all viewers in the state of Iowa no matter where they live and is the most watched public television station in the nation.”
Iowa Public Television is Iowa’s statewide public broadcasting network. IPTV provides quality, alternative programming that educates, enlightens and entertains Iowans throughout the state. Iowa Public Television began in Iowa in 1967 when the State Educational Radio and Television Facility Board was created and charged with developing a state network to broadcast educational programs.

More than one million viewers a week turn to IPTV for programming that reflects a range of interests for Iowans in all demographic categories.
