4 arrests reported in Mills County

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office today (Thursday), issued a report on recent arrests. Officials say at around 1:20-a.m. Thursday (Today), 22-year old Miguel Magana, of Schuyler, NE, was arrested on Bunge Road, for Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. His bond was set at $2,000.

Last Sunday (Sept. 13th), 35-year old Aprile Marie Waston (no city given), was arrested in Mills County on a warrant for Theft in the 5th Degree. Her bond was set at $300. On Saturday, 55-year old Lloyd Dean Black, of Omaha, was arrested on an OWI/1st Offense, charge. Bond was set at $1,000.

And last Friday (Sept. 11th), 30-year old Keith James Charlier, of Blanchard, was arrested in Mills County on a warrant for Probation Violation. The man was being held without bond, in the Mills County Jail.

VERNA MARIAN ADAMS, 90, of Nevada (& formerly of Irwin), died Wed., Sept. 16th, at Rolling Green Nursing Home, in Nevada. Funeral services for VERNA ADAMS will be held 10-a.m.Tuesday , Sept. 22nd at the United Methodist Church in Irwin. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Visitation at the funeral home will be held Mon., Sept. 21st, from 5-until 8-p.m.

Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Irwin.

VERNA ADAMS is survived by:

Her sons – Alvin (Lauren) Adams, of Des Moines; Gary (Audrey) Adams, of Congress, AZ; Bruce (Michelle) Adams, of Ames; Galen Adams & friend Darla, of Nevada; Bob (Cheri) Adams, of Breda (pronounced “BREE-duh”), and Allan (Holly) Adams, of Van Meter

Her daughter – Linda (David) Brummett, of Rogers, AR.

Her sister – Thelma Knudsen, of Sanford, FL.

28 grandchildren and 20great-grandchildren.

ALICE MAGDELINE STOLZ, 101, of Harlan, died Tue., Sept. 15th, at home. A Mass of Christian Burial for ALICE STOLZ will be held 10:30-a.m. Mon., Sept. 21st, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 20th from 12:00pm-8:00pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling with a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 7:00pm.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earling.

ALICE MAGDELINE STOLZ is survived by:

Sons: Phil (Harriette) Graeve of Defiance.  Ed (Mary Kay) Graeve of Denison.  Ken (Dixie) Graeve of Brookfield, WI.  Bob (Sue) Graeve of Omaha, NE.  Neil (Jolene) Graeve of Tuscon, AZ.  Jack Graeve of Des Moines.

MARY “Marie” MAGDALENE JANS, 85, of Harlan, died Wed. , Sept. 16th, at Myrtue Medical Center, in Harlan. A Mass of Christian Burial for MARY “MARIE” JANS will be held 10:30-a.m. Sat., Sept. 19th, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, in Harlan. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Burial will be in the Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, at Defiance.

MARY JANS is survived by:

Her sons – Joe (Janice) Kramer, of Harlan; Lenny (Joyce) Kramer, of Suprise, AZ, and Ron (LuAnn) Kramer, of Earling.

Her daughter – Karen (Rocket) Herning, of Harlan.

Her sisters – Stella Hodapp, of TX; Theresa Simmons, and Margie Adams, both of Omaha, and Armella (Germain) Reding, of Bennington, NE.

Her brothers – Paul (Martha) Bissen, of Harlan, & Kenny (Alma) Bissen, of Cedar Grove, TN.

Bluffs man faces several charges, including attempting to disarm a police officer

A Council Bluffs Police Officer investigating a reported Burglary in Progress Wednesday night, was slightly injured when the suspect attempted to disarm the officer. Authorities say the incident happened at around 9-p.m. at 2924 Avenue D. When officers arrived and attempted to arrest 51-year old Mike Snyder, of Council Bluffs, Snyder, who was allegedly intoxicated and irate, attempted to disarm one of the officers on the scene. The officer suffered a cut to his hand in the scuffle, but did not require medical treatment.

Snyder was taken into custody after a brief struggle and transported to the Pottawattamie County Jail, where he was booked-in on charges that include Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer, Serious Assault on a Police Officer, and Interference with Official Acts.

Teen assaulted w/a knife Wednesday in Council Bluffs

A man in his 30’s is being sought in connection with an incident of assault involving a cutting tool, in Council Bluffs. According to Bluffs Police Sgt. Chad Geer, at around 3:50-p.m., Wednesday, officers spoke with a 15-year old male who had been assaulted with a knife. The unidentified victim said he was in the area of 25th Street and Avenue D, when he was approached by a white male subject who struck the teen with a sharp object, thought to be a box cutter.

The assailant, who was described as wearing a dark-colored stocking cap and coat, left the scene following the incident, which remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the Council Bluffs Police Department at 712-328-STOP (7867).
