Creston man cited following Mon. morning accident

Police in Creston say no injuries were reported following a collision Monday morning. Officials say 20-year old Brett Cheers, of Orient, was cited for Failure to Yield, after the car he was driving changed lanes and collided with a vehicle driven by 17-year old Ashley Bargstadt, of Creston. The accident happened at around 9:45-a.m. on westbound Townline Road, near the intersection with Highway 25.

The collision caused a total of $2,500 damage.

Hawkeye 10 girls tennis tournament results

Girls Tennis Teams in the Hawkeye 10 Conference competed in the conference tournament on Monday, May 18th.  Denison-Schleswig won the team title for the first time in school history by beating out Red Oak whom had won 15 titles in a row. Mara Pirscoveanu of Denison-Schleswig was the singles champion beating Abby Bergsten of Lewis Central in the finals.  The Red Oak doubles team of Grace Blomstedt and Micayla Taylor were champions, beating Amber Hrabik and Jacque Ingram of Denison-Schleswig in the finals.  Full results are listed below.

Atlantic wins preliminary substate match in boys tennis

Monday night in Atlantic the Trojan Boys Tennis Team played a preliminary substate match against Kuemper Catholic.  A close match went to the Trojans as they beat the Knights 5-4.  The Trojans got the win by winning the 1, 3, and 5 singles matches and the 1 and 2 doubles matches.

Atlantic advances to substate play Denison-Schleswig in a substate match this Saturday, May 23rd.

DEAN HOLLISTER, 79, of Audubon, died Sun., May 17th, at the Friendship Home, in Audubon. Celebration of Life Memorial services for DEAN HOLLISTER will be held 11-a.m. Wed., May 20th, at the 1st Presbyterian Church, in Audubon. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon has the arrangements.

Visitation with the family present, will be from 9:30-a.m. until the time of service Wed., at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at a later date.

DEAN HOLLISTER is survived by:

His wife – Mar Hollister, of Audubon.

His daughter – Ann (Tim) Huegerich, of Exira.

His brother – Glen (Arlette) Hollister, of Des Moines.

2 grandchildren, other relatives, & friends.

Red Oak man arrested Mon. night on burglary charges

Police in Red Oak say one person was arrested Monday night on burglary charges. 24-year old Ian Anthony Clarke, of Red Oak, was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on felony Burglary in the 2nd Degree, and Attempted Burglary in the 2nd degree, charges. His bond was set at $10,000.

Officials says his arrest stems from an incident or incidents that occurred in the 1400 block of north 6th Street, in Red Oak, where Clark allegedly went to a residence and forced open the back door to gain entry. Clark fled from the home and allegedly attempted to gain entry into a second residence, but was not successful.

He was arrested at around 9:30-p.m. by Red Oak Police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies, with assistance from Sheriff’s Department K9 “Jax,”  in the back yard of a residence located in the vicinity of 1400 north 6th Street.
