Contractor Selected to rebuild I-680

News

September 26th, 2011 by admin

Two eastern Iowa firms have combined to win the low bid to rebuild a portion of interstate 680 in Pottawattamie County.

The 3.1 mile stretch of I-680 extends from Interstate 29 to the Missouri River. It was severely damaged by flooding this spring and summer and will now be rebuilt.

The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) held a bid letting last Friday for the project. A total of five bids were received. The low bid went to a joint venture between Peterson Contractors Inc. (PCI) of Reinbeck and Reilly Construction. The bid amount was just over 19 million dollars.

The goal of the project is to restore traffic on the I-680 as quickly as possible, aiming for a full or partial reopening later this year.
