Police in Red Oak report three arrests late Sunday evening and Sunday night. Officials say at around 5:23-p.m., 49-year old Richard Tamez Delgado, of Red Oak, was arrested on charges of Serious Assault and Interference with Official Acts. Delgado was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and held on $1,000 bond.

At around 9:10-p.m., Sunday, Red Oak Police arrested 35-year old Todd Thomas Silk, of Red Oak, on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault. Silk was being held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail.

And, at about 11:30 Sunday night, 30-year old Zachariah Michael Holland was arrested on an active Red Oak Police Dept. warrant for Failure to Appear in court on a 5th Degree Theft charge.  Holland was also charged with Theft in the 5th degree/shoplifting, Violation of a No Trespass Order, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and held on $300 bond.

A man from Adams County was injured during a motorcycle accident Sunday night. Sheriff’s officials say 23-year old Mick Lee Coleman, of Corning, was treated for his injuries at Alegent Health in Corning, and then released from the facility. Authorities say Coleman was traveling east on 190th Street at around 8:12-p.m., when he lost control of the 1983 Honda CX-650 motorcycle he was driving.

The cycle crossed the center line of the road and crashed into the south ditch near 190th and Quince Avenue, in Prescott.

The committee subpoena power authority through a resolution passed as the last Senate action of the 2014 session on Friday.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A longtime editor at the Des Moines Register has died less than two weeks after suffering a heart attack. The Des Moines Register reports 55-year-old Randy Brubaker died Saturday. He was senior news director at the newspaper and had held several leadership roles since 1983. Funeral arrangements are pending.

ALTOONA, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have arrested two Iowa men on suspicion of kidnapping and assault after they were found in a parked vehicle with a woman. The Polk County Sheriff’s office says an Altoona officer contacted the men after smelling a strong odor of marijuana. The woman told authorities she had been sexually assaulted at a nearby location by the 28-year-old and 27-year-old men she was with. The woman was taken to a hospital, and the two men were arrested.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Rain and wind is washing away enough of Iowa’s fertile topsoil to potentially reduce crop yields by $1 billion, so researchers are working to develop a better way to measure erosion. The Des Moines Register reports researchers think parts of Iowa could be losing up to 12 times more soil that government reports suggest.

EXIRA, Iowa (AP) – Officials in Exira have once again postponed a controlled burn on a nearly century-old elementary school building. Fire officials canceled the Sunday morning fire in Exira because of strong winds in the area. It has been pushed back to June 1. It’s the second Sunday in a row the controlled burn was cancelled due to the weather.

About 100 firefighters from a dozen or so departments in the region were expected to participate in the burn as part of training. The Exira Elk Horn-Kimballton Community School District says it will save up to $60,000 in demolition costs by doing the burn.

The large brick building near the center of town was closed in 2011. It was originally scheduled to be burned down at the end of April, but poor weather conditions canceled it.

Exira is a small community about 60 miles west of Des Moines.
