Police in Atlantic said Wednesday that a Pottawattamie County man was arrested Tuesday on a charge of Public Intoxication. 31-year old Damian Morgan, of Council Bluffs, was arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail.

But corn and soybean crop expectations have changed little in the latest report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The monthly update released Wednesday shows farmers producing a record 13.9 billion bushels of corn and 3.6 billion bushels of soybeans.
SOLDIER, Iowa (AP) – A western Iowa town is under a boil advisory after a hole in a well pipe drained the city’s water tower. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said yesterday that the hole in the pipe was repaired, and the city of Soldier’s system was running once again. But the loss of water pressure created the potential for bacteria to enter the water system.
MUSCATINE, Iowa (AP) – A state agency has begun an investigation into the death of an Illinois man at a Muscatine construction business. The Muscatine Journal reports 52-year-old David Bewley of Colona, Illinois died in an accident Monday at Heuer Construction. The Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – Herky has returned to his spot on the Pentacrest at the University of Iowa. The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports the fiberglass Reflections of U Herky is back on its concrete base on campus. Last month, a vandal broke off the statue beneath the university mascot’s knees. Cedar Rapids artist Kim O’Meara repaired the shattered legs, and the statue was bolted back into place Monday.
MAUDE (Handley) WHITE, 100, of Carmel, CA (& formerly of Casey), died May 4th. Memorial services for MAUDE WHITE will be held 11-a.m. Sat., June 14th, at the 1st United Methodist Church, in Anita. Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home has the arrangements.
Visitation with her family will be held one-half hour prior to the service, at the church.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, with a luncheon to follow the committal service, in the church fellowship hall.

UNDATED (AP) – Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright returned to St. Louis Wednesday for tests on his sore right elbow, although the team is optimistic the situation isn’t serious.
Wainwright became the NL’s first nine-game winner by pitching seven innings in last night’s 1-0 win at Tampa Bay. Wainwright had elbow ligament replacement surgery four years ago, but Cardinals manager Mike Matheny says the discomfort was on the other side of the elbow.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) – Desmond Jennings had a two-run single during a four-run fourth inning and the Tampa Bay Rays snapped a club-record 31-inning scoring drought en route to beating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 Wednesday night.
Tampa Bay won for just the second time in 16 games after having been shutout in its previous three contests. The Rays had scored 35 runs over the previous 15 games. Yadier Molina had two RBIs for the Cardinals, who entered with three consecutive shutout pitching performances. The Rays’ big fourth inning came against Michael Wacha (4-5).
Juan Carlos Oviedo (2-2) went 1 1-3 inning for the win. Grant Balfour threw the final 2 1-3 innings for his 10th save.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says it would like the public to be aware of a scam call that has been reported to authorities. Officials say during the scam, a caller will say your debit card has been locked and to push “1” to activate it.
The sheriff’s office says you should hang up on any such calls, and contact your financial institution to verify everything is ok.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – Iowa defensive back Nico Law is leaving the program after being arrested and charged with disorderly conduct last weekend in Iowa City. Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz says on Wednesday that Law has decided to transfer.
Law would have been a senior this fall. He competed for the top spot at strong safety with incumbent starter John Lowdermilk during spring practice. Law played in 13 games last season and made five tackles, though his role was likely to expand in 2014.
