Sheriff’s officials in Page County say rapidly deteriorating road conditions were to blame for two, separate non-injury accidents late Wednesday morning. The first happened at around 10:55-a.m., east of Shenandoah on C Avenue, just south of Highway 2. Officials say a 2010 Ford pickup driven by 46-year old Donald Wayne Lindquist, of Red Oak, was traveling south on C Avenue, when the roadway became slick very quickly. The pickup went out of control and into a ditch where it rolled over. Damage was estimated at $15,000.
The second accident happened at around 11:50-a.m., Wednesday, also on C Avenue, about one-half mile north of 250th Street. The Page County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year old Dasie Mae Richt, of Northboro, was traveling south on C Avenue, when her 2001 Mitsubishi went out of control and entered a ditch, where it rolled over and landed on a fence before coming to rest on its top. Damage was estimated at $7,000.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Hallie Christofferson, Nikki Moody and Seanna Johnson had big games as No. 20 Iowa State cruised by Northern Iowa 83-55 Wednesday night. Christofferson led in scoring with 22 points, hitting 8 of 10 free throws. Moody added 16 points and eight assists. Johnson had 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Cyclones (8-0), off to their best start in 11 seasons, out-rebounded Northern Iowa 49-30. The Panthers (2-7), held to 36 percent shooting, were led by Madison Weekly with 16 points.
Erin Dohnalek’s 3-pointer pulled Northern Iowa into a 14-14 tie before the Cyclones reeled off 16 straight points. Late in the first half, Iowa State went on a 12-2 run before six quick points from the Panthers made it 43-26 at the half.
ISU dominated the inside, out-scoring the Panthers 42-16 in the paint and 16-4 in second-chance points. UNI had 18 turnovers good for 24 Cyclone points.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — It was almost like adding injury to insult when Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano banged his head off the turf so hard that he sustained a concussion after dropping a pass. He wasn’t the only one who let the ball slip through his fingers last Sunday.
The Chiefs have finally started to put up some offense the last three weeks, but bobbled balls and drops have kept them from putting even more points on the board — maybe even avoiding becoming the first team to start 9-0 and then lose three straight games.
As the Chiefs head to Washington on Sunday, coach Andy Reid said everyone has to do a better job of making plays when they’re put in the position to do so.
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls have recalled backup guard Marquis Teague from the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League. The Bulls announced the move on Wednesday, a day after he was assigned to Iowa. Teague has played in nine games for Chicago, averaging 1.2 points, 0.8 assists and 8.9 minutes.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A wintry storm that heaped snow on the Rockies has pushed east into northern Nebraska and northwest Iowa. NWS meteorologist Todd Heitkamp said 4 to 6 inches of snow had fallen in northwest Iowa on Wednesday.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Board of Regents has approved plans to freeze tuition rates for undergraduates — and reduce them for law students. The regents voted yesterday to keep tuition steady for resident undergraduate students at Iowa’s three public universities for the second straight year. The freeze is contingent on the schools receiving a 4 percent general funding increase from lawmakers next year. Without it, the regents warn they may have to approve a hike later.
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — The ambassador of Nigeria is coming to Dubuque. The reception and program, titled “All Africa” will include opening remarks by Dubuque Mayor Roy Buol.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police say a man suspected of shooting at passing vehicles in a Des Moines neighborhood is in custody and injured. He was injured and taken to a local hospital.
