Stolen vehicle reported in Creston

A woman from Mt. Ayr reported to Creston Police, Tuesday, that someone had stolen her SUV from the parking lot at Southwestern Community College. The 2006 Jeep Commander with Iowa license plate AUX 179, was taken sometime between Noon and 1-p.m., Tuesday. The loss was estimated at $5,000.

Creston Police said also, officers arrested 19-year old Jazmin Govea, of Lenox, Tuesday afternoon. She was cited for Theft in the 5th degree (for allegedly shoplifting from Wal-Mart), and later released from the Union County Jail.

Funeral plans set for former Iowa basketball star Roy Marble

FLINT, Mich. (AP) – Funeral plans are set for Roy Marble, the high-flying guard who scored the most points in Iowa history as he helped the Hawkeyes become a national power in the mid-1980s. Marble died Friday in Grand Blanc, Michigan, after a long battle with cancer. He was 48. A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday at Beecher High School near Flint. A funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church in Flint.

Marble was a prep star from the Flint area before leaving his home state to play for the Hawkeyes from 1986-89, scoring 2,116 points and headlining perhaps the best years the program has ever seen. Marble led Iowa to the NCAA Tournament four times, including an Elite Eight appearance in 1987.

Heyward lifts Cardinals past Brewers 3-1 in 10 innings

MILWAUKEE (AP) – Jason Heyward hit a line drive two-run homer in the 10th inning to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 3-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. St. Louis has won consecutive games following a 2-8 skid and increased its lead in the NL Central to three games over second-place Pittsburgh. Kevin Siegrist (7-1) pitched the ninth and Trevor Rosenthal the 10th for his 44th save.

Carlos Martinez matched a season high by going eight innings. He struck out nine and gave up one earned run and four hits, as the team improved to 16-4 in his last 20 starts. Milwaukee lost its fourth straight game and has just 10 victories in its last 36 home games against St. Louis. Matt Carpenter led off the 10th and reached on an error on by first baseman Adam Lind. With one out, Heyward connected off Tyler Thornburg (0-2) for his 12th homer.

Red Oak man arrested on two warrants

Police in Red Oak arrested a man wanted on two warrants, Tuesday evening. 34-year old Kale Garrett Hardman, of Red Oak, was taken into custody at around 6:30-p.m. on a Mongtomery County Sheriff’s Department warrant for Contempt of Court for resisting an order of process of the magistrate court. He was also arrested on a Mills County warrant for Harassment in the 1st degree, and Violation of a Protective Order. Hardman was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on cash bonds amounting to $2,600.

TORI S. SPENCER, 39, of Audubon, died Mon., Sept. 14th, at her father’s home, in Audubon. Funeral services for TORI SPENCER will be held 10:30-a.m. Sat., Sept. 19th, at the 1st United Methodist Church, in Audubon. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home, where the family will be present 5-p.m. Friday (9/18).

Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Her children – Gage Spencer and Hannah Spencer, both of Audubon.

Trucker injured during accident on I-80 near Menlo, Tuesday

An accident Tuesday afternoon near Menlo involving a semi on Interstate 80, resulted in one person being sent to the hospital. The Iowa State Patrol reports 59-year old Andrew Burch, of Huntsville, AL, was driving a 2015 International semi eastbound on I-80 about a two-miles east of the Menlo exit at around 3:15-p.m., when the truck — registered to New Prime, Inc., out of Springfield, MO. — left the road and entered the south ditch before it came to rest. Burch was transported by Stuart Rescue to the Adair County Hospital in Greenfield.
