FOR SALE:  Cleaned out my Mother’s basement and found what I consider to be Vintage 16 oz Coca Cola and 7up bottle carriers. Also, four 16 oz 7up bottles. If I am reading the bottle bottoms correctly, two are dated 1969, one is 1970 and the other is 1972. I don’t notice any chips on the bottles but you need to be the final judge. Also, the Coke carriers are what I would call excellent condition with one being darker red than the other. The 7up carrier has a broken bottom in one of the compartments and one side has a crack but otherwise good condition. Asking $50 OBO. I suspect the most value is in the Coke pieces. Please call or text 712-249-9545.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that the Chiefs and Tamba Hali have agreed to a three-year contract to keep the veteran linebacker in Kansas City.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity Tuesday because the deal had not been announced.

The 32-year-old Hali is coming off his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl, despite practicing on a limited basis much of the season because of a troublesome knee. He also had a broken thumb late in the year.

Still, the Chiefs’ former first-round pick finished with 6 1-2 sacks while starting 14 of the 15 games he played. That gave him 86 for his career, matching Neil Smith for second-most in franchise history.

Ricky Nolasco, competing for a spot in the Twins rotation, gave up three hits in three scoreless innings, struck out four and hit a batter,

Aledmys Diaz had four hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals.

PG Mike Gesell blossoms into unheralded star for Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Jarrod Uthoff and Peter Jok have dominated the headlines for the Hawkeyes this season.

But Iowa might not be headed to its third straight NCAA Tournament — a feat it hasn’t accomplished in over two decades — without senior point guard Mike Gesell.

Gesell, whose successful recruitment was a crucial building block in coach Fran McCaffery’s rebuilding job, has grown from a four-star prep to an unheralded star and a steadying presence for the 20th-ranked Hawkeyes (21-9, 12-6 Big Ten).

They open league tournament play Thursday against either Minnesota or Illinois.
