Man & woman from MO. arrested on Theft, drug & child endangerment charges in Fremont County

A traffic stop Friday night in Fremont County resulted in numerous charges against a man and woman from Missouri. Authorities say the Fremont County K9 Unit conducted the traffic stop at around 11:45-p.m. for a registration violation, near the intersection of 310th St and Railroad Ave, in Hamburg, Iowa.  The vehicle was occupied by two adults and two children ages 2 and 4.

The vehicle was found to be stolen out of Kansas City, Missouri.  A search warrant was conducted on the vehicle and narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered. The driver, 32-year old Clifford John, of Gladstone, MO., was arrested for Theft 2nd Degree, Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 2 counts of Child Endangerment, and Driving without a license.

The passenger, 24-year old Henrietta Marshall, of Kansas City, MO., was arrested for Theft 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 2 counts of Child Endangerment.

The pair are being held without bond pending further court proceedings. The children were released to the care of a relative.

EARL JARNAGIN, 82, of Panora died Thursday, August 16th at his home. A visitation for EARL JARNAGIN will be held on Thursday, August 23rd from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Twigg Funeral Home in Panora.

Private burial of his cremains will be held in the West Cemetery in Panora.

EARL JARNAGIN is survived by:

Sons: Brian (Tammy) Jarnagin of Ames. Gary (Kris) Jarnagin of Panora. Scott Jarnagin of Monroe. Sean Jarnigan of Bayard. Neal Jarnagin of Waverly.

Brother: Wayne Jarnagin.

Sisters: Dottie Siri, Darlene Jarnagin, and Jeri Corbitt.

Atlantic Sesquicentennial Block Party presented by KJAN this Sunday

KJAN has coordinated with numerous community organizations and businesses to celebrate the 150th Birthday of Atlantic with a Sesquicentennial Block Party on Sunday. The party will be held at the Atlantic Middle School from 11:00am-3:00pm with numerous activities held throughout the event.

A meal will be available for just $1.50 with seating available indoors and outdoors for attendees to eat. The meal will feature pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, chips, cupcake, and a drink.

Atlantic history presentations will take place in a classroom at 11:30am and 12:30pm. Who’s Who in Atlantic: 1868-1968 presentation at 11:30. At 12:30 Rock Island Railroad: Atlantic beginnings presentation.

There will be churches/groups/organizations providing family fun and activities. A few include: Nishna Valley Family YMCA – bounce houses and train rides, Atlantic BPW – kids bag toss, Atlantic Lions – corn hole games, Atlantic Elks – fire trailer, Atlantic PEO – a depot cutout out for photos, Atlantic FFA – kids activities and demonstrations, Atlantic Police Department – kids fingerprints, Atlantic Fire Department – fire truck rides, Atlantic Rising – face painting. An old fashioned hymn sing a long in the auditorium at 1:00pm will be held as well. The movie “I Can Only Imagine” will be shown in the Atlantic Middle School Auditorium at 3:00pm at no cost.

A special street dedication presentation for Atlantic native and Super Bowl Champion Ed Podolak will take place at 2:00pm in the Trojan Bowl. Ed will be available for pictures and photographs beginning at 12:30pm as well. Herky will be on hand along with a number of other dignitaries from the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs to honor Ed and meet with the public.

An aerial photo in the shape of 150 will take place in the Trojan Bowl as well to document the celebration. Come on out to enjoy a fun day to celebrate Atlantic’s 150th Birthday!

Nebraska man arrested in Montgomery County

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Nebraska man after a traffic stop early Saturday morning. At 2:41am Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highways 34 and 71 just north of Villisca. Deputies arrested 43-year-old Daniel Jacob Robison of Brady, NE for Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense. Robison was taken to the Mongtomery County Jail and held on $1,000 bond.

Red Oak Police report early Saturday morning arrest

Red Oak Police report the arrest of 41-year-old Chrystal Rush Stewart early Saturday morning at 1:32am. Stewart was arrested in the 500 block of 4th Avenue and charged with Interference with Official Acts. She was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $300 bond.

Three cited after Red Oak Police investigate minor beer party Friday

Red Oak Police report the arrest of multiple people after investigating a reported minor beer party in Red Oak Friday night. Officers took a report of a minor beer party in the 1800 block of East Summitt Street and responded around 10:00pm Friday. After investigation officers cited into court and released three individuals and released a male juvenile to his parents. 21-year-old Jennifer Nichole Gibson of Red Oak was cited and released on the charge of permitting individuals under the age of 18 to consume or have possession of alcohol on her property. 20-year-old Dustin Lee Jones of Elliott was charged with Possession of Alcohol by a person 18-20 years of age. 18-year-old Jordan Erin Thomas of Atlantic was also charged with Possession of Alcohol by a person 18-20 years of age.

Two arrested after domestic disturbance in Red Oak

Two Red Oak residents were arrested on Friday evening after a domestic disturbance. At 8:28pm Officers arrested 48-year-old Teri Ann Nelson and 49-year-old Jeffrey Scott Blackburn both of Red Oak. Nelson was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd Offense. Blackburn was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault. Both subjects were arrested at their residence in the 500 block of Oakwood Avenue. Both were taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on no bond.
