One arrest and one theft reported in Union County

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 36-year-old Katie Loraine Campbell of Lorimor on Saturday at 3:00pm. She was arrested on a warrant for Violation of Probation. Campbell was later released from the Union County Jail on $2,000 bond.

Union County Sheriff’s Officials also received a report on Friday from a Lorimor man that items were taken from his truck while at his residence. Items stolen were a tool box with miscellaneous tools, two Husky chainsaws, a generator, weld drill, and DeWalt drill. The estimated value of the stolen items was $2,400.

Audubon Police report 09/24/2018

Audubon Police Chief Matt Starmer released details on multiple recent arrests on Monday.

Most recently on September 17th Audubon Police arrested 30-year-old Jay Robert Edwin Pedrin of Audubon for Willful Injury.  Pedrin is currently being held in the Audubon County Jail on $10,000 bond.

On September 15th Officers arrested 24-year-old Joseph Ray Perkins of Audubon.  Perkins was arrested for Domestic Abuse Causing Injury and Disorderly Conduct.  Perkins is currently in the Audubon County Jail on $5300 bond.

Also on September 15th Officers arrested 43-year-old Patrick David Perkins of Ames. Perkins was arrested on an active Story County warrant for Violation of a No Contact Order.  He was released to Story County authorities.

On September 12th Audubon Police arrested 22-year-old Tyler Ian Rumley of Des Moines. Rumley was charged Sexual Abuse – Third Degree. He remains in the Audubon County Jail on bond.

Inmate charged with assaulting another at Page County Jail

An assault was reported at the Page County Jail on Thursday resulting in an added charge for an inmate. 29-year-old Joseph Cody Foster of Shambaugh assaulted a fellow inmate, 36-year-old Tyrel Daniel Cunningham by punching him in the head repeatedly and causing injury. Cunningham was taken to Clarinda Regional Health Center for treatment of injuries and is not being charged with any violation. Foster is being charged with Willful Injury, a class D Felony, and remains in custody pending trials on previous charges.

Homecoming week has arrived in Atlantic

Trojan LogoMonday marks the start of Homecoming week in Atlantic leading up the football game on Friday night against the OA-BCIG Falcons and the dance on Saturday.

Atlantic students will be dressing up throughout spirit week and lunch games will be held throughout the week along with a dodgeball tournament for girls. Each class will make a float and judging will be held on Wednesday evening. The dress days are: Monday: Numero Uno – Colors for Each Class: Seniors-Blue, Juniors- Yellow, Sophomores-Green, Freshmen-Red. Tuesday: Glucose World – Pajama Day. Wednesday: Who is You? – Students Dress as Teachers, Teachers as Students. Thursday: Camo Day. Friday: Black and Gold.

Voting for King and Queen will take place on Wednesday. Queen candidates this year are: Halsey Bailey, Alyssa Ginther, Taylor Hansen, Cambry Miller, Baylee Newell, Sadie Welter, Ashley Wendt. King candidates are: Nathan Behrends, Tyler Comes, Matthew Gearheart, Kenneth Jimerson, Chase McLaren, Connor Pellett, and Korben Peterson. Corontation and Pep Assembly will start at 12:13pm on Friday.

The Homecoming parade will begin at 2:30pm on Friday. Parade entry forms are available in the high school office or online at www.atlanticiaschools.org. Entry forms are due by Thursday, September 27th at 3:00pm. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to join the parade.

Awarding of the spirit stick will take place at halftime of the football game and the Homecoming dance is on Saturday night.

Two accidents reported in Red Oak on Friday

The Red Oak Police Department released details about two separate accidents on Friday.

The first was a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 1:38pm at the intersection of North 8th Street and East Joy Street. A 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by 16-year-old Morgan Renae Graber of Red Oak was traveling eastbound on Joy Street when she failed to yield upon entering the intersection with North 8th Street. The Jeep then broadsided a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup driven by 42-year-old Daric John Oneal of Red Oak who was headed northbound on North 8th Street. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident. The Jeep sustained an estimated $8,000 damage and was towed from the scene by Eggleston Towing. The Dodge pickup sustained an estimated $6,000 damage and was able to be driven from the scene. The Red Oak Fire Department assisted at the scene and provided cleanup.

The second accident occurred at 10:52pm in the 400 block of South 4th Street. A 2016 Hyundai Sonata driven by 23-year-old Zachary Lee Marshall of Red Oak was traveling northbound on South 4th Street when he collided head on with a construction dumpster. Marshall was uninjured in the accident and the Hyundai sustained an estimated $5,000 damage. The vehicle was towed away from the scene by Darnold’s Towing.

Red Oak man arrested after short pursuit Saturday evening

A Red Oak man was arrested after a short vehicle pursuit on Saturday evening. At 7:30pm Friday Red Oak Police Officers attempted to stop a Chrysler Sebring but the driver fled the area. He was later stopped at 210th Street and D Avenue due to vehicle issues. The driver was identified as 47-year-old Joshua Norman Fuller of Red Oak and it was determined that he had a suspended license. Two small children were found in the back seat of the vehicle as well and Fuller was charged with two counts of Child Endangerment. He was also charged with Driving While Suspended and Eluding.  He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $2,000 bond.

The Red Oak Police Department reports the arrest of a Red Oak woman early Monday. At 6:01am officers arrested 26-year-old Tabitha Lynn Madsen of Red Oak for Disorderly Conduct at 2301 Eastern Avenue in Red Oak. She was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $300 cash bond.
