DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — As Hillary Rodham Clinton is talking about building a better America in New York, Democratic rival Bernie Sanders was in Des Moines talking about political revolution. The Vermont senator and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate says, “There is no state in the country where we have a better opportunity to do that than here in Iowa.” Sanders says Iowa will be key for his insurgent campaign against Clinton.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Residents of Cedar Rapids are trying to clean up the mess left behind by flash flooding earlier this week — including almost a dozen cars that stalled on streets trying to drive through high water. Television station KCRG says floodwater that swamped city streets overnight Thursday drained away quickly, but not before damaging cars and sending rescue crews scrambling.

CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have identified a woman shot and killed in an eastern Iowa shopping mall as 20-year-old Andrea Farrington, who worked in the children’s museum at the mall. Farrington died at an Iowa City hospital.

ST. LOUIS (AP) – Call-up Tyler Lyons had a solid outing and Mark Reynolds hit the go-ahead homer in the fifth inning for the St. Louis Cardinals, who beat the Kansas City Royals for the second straight day, 3-2 on Saturday. Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez homered for the Royals, who took two of three from the Cardinals at home last month and will be trying to avoid a sweep in the finale.

Matt Carpenter and Jason Heyward each added an RBI for St. Louis, which is a major league-best 41-21 overall and 24-7 at home. The Cardinals used five relievers over the last four innings to hold a one-run lead with Trevor Rosenthal getting the last four outs for his league-leading 21st save in 22 chances.

The Royals’ eighth did not lack for dramatics. Heyward battled the sun to snare Kendrys Morales’ liner while falling on his backside and Rosenthal rallied from a 3-0 count to get Gordon on an infield popup with two on for the third out.

Shooting victim: 20-yr. old Andrea Farrington.

22-year old Alexander Matthew Kozak, of North Liberty, admitted to authorities he shot 20-year-old Andrea Farrington, of Cedar Rapids, at least three times in the back with a nine-millimeter pistol. Farrington worked in the children’s museum at the mall.

A handgun and bullet casings were found at the scene. Farrington died at an Iowa City hospital. No one else was injured. Kozak fled the scene in a small car bearing Texas registration plates. About an hour after the shooting was reported, an Iowa State Patrol Trooper saw the suspect’s vehicle on Interstate 80 eastbound. The car was stopped about 50-miles east of the mall and Kozak was taken into custody without incident.

Kozak was being held in the Muscatine County Jail on $10 million bond. He was employed as a security officer at the Coral Ridge Mall since late 2014. He had been working at the mall on June 12th prior to the shooting.

Farrington graduated from Montezuma High School in 2012. Her family said working for the Children’s Museum at the mall for just over 6 months, was her dream job.
