Missing girl found!

The Cass County Communications Center reports a girl missing from the Lewis area has been found. Word was received at around 7:04-a.m.  11-year old Trinity Nichole Ericksen was located, but additional information is currently not available.

Authorities in Cass and Montgomery County had been coordinating efforts in the search for the missing juvenile.The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports was last seen wearing jeans and a blue shirt with a light bulb on the back, along with the saying “Learn today, live tomorrow.”

Deputies with the Cass and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Departments, along with Lewis and Atlantic Fire Department personnel, gathered to begin a search for the girl at around 5:30-a.m.

Traffic stop results in brief chase Sat. morning, in Atlantic

A vehicle being pulled over for a defective headlight led a Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy on a brief chase early this (Saturday) morning. According to scanner traffic at around 2-a.m., a deputy tried to pull a vehicle over on Birch between 6th and 7th Streets, for having a headlight out, when the vehicle sped-off. Authorities were able to corner the vehicle in the vicinity of State and Commerce Streets at around 2:10-a.m.

One of two people in the vehicle were reportedly maced by the deputy, and required treatment by medics. The driver was taken into custody. Atlantic Police officers assisted at the scene. Additional information is currently not available.

Red Oak man arrested for Probation Violation

Police in Red Oak arrested a local man Friday, on a valid Montgomery County warrant for Probation Violation. 31-year old Zachariah Michael Holland, of Red Oak, was brought to the Montgomery County Jail and held on a $20,000 cash bond.

HELEN MARGARET BISSEN, 88, of Harlan, died Thu., Sept. 3rd, at Myrtue Medical Center, in Harlan. A Mass of Christian Burial for HELEN BISSEN will be held 11-a.m. Tue., Sept. 8th, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, in Harlan. Pualey-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation at St. Michael’s Catholic Church will be held Monday (Sept. 7th), from 1-until 9-p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5-until 8-p.m.; A Catholic Daughters Rosary and Wake will be held at St. Michael’s on Tuesday, beginning at 11-a.m.

Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery.

HELEN BISSEN is survived by:

Her husband – Marvin Bissen, of Harlan.

Her daughters – Linda (Keith) Graeve, of Elk Horn, NE; Pastor Connie Bissen, of Omaha; & Nancy (Leo) Kochanowicz, of Omaha.

Her sons – Duane (Sheryl) Bissen, of Grinnell; Dennis (Bonnie) Bissen, of Kimballton; Roger (DeaAnn) Bissen, of Harlan.

Her sisters – Dorothy Coenen, of Woodbine, & Marie (Charlie) Klein, of Earling.

Her brothers – Eugene Gross, of Battle Creek, IA; Jerry (Sharon) Gross, of Earling, & Vern (Ginger) Gross, of Palmdale, CA.

17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

BERNARD “BERNIE” M. LEINEN, 83, of Harlan (& formerly of Portsmouth), died Fri., Sept. 4th, at the Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan. A Mass of Christian Burial for BERNIE LEINEN will be held 10:30-a.m. Tue., Sept. 8th, at St. Mary/Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Portsmouth. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation at St. Mary’s church in Portsmouth will be held from Noon until 8-p.m. Mon., Sept. 7th, with a Rosary at 7-p.m.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Portsmouth.

RUTH WEDEMEYER, 91, of Adair, died Thu., Sept. 3rd, at Caring Acres Nursing & Rehab in Anita. Funeral services for RUTH WEDEMEYER will be held 10:30-a.m. Wed., Sept. 9th, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Adair. Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home has the arrangements.

Friends may call at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church beginning at 9-a.m. on Wed., Sept. 9th (prior to the service).

Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Adair.
