The Creston Police Department reports a local teen was caught allegedly trespassing, Monday. 14-year old Virginia Gilleland was turned over to Juvenile authorities at around 5:09-p.m., for allegedly trespassing at 211 north Elm Street.

Traffic stop in Montgomery County results 2 drug-related arrests

A traffic stop early this (Tuesday) morning at the intersection of 222nd Street & Highway 48, south of Red Oak, has resulted in two drug-related arrests. Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials say 45-year old James Keith Saufley, Jr., of Hepburn, was taken into custody at around 3:47-a.m., on charges that include Possession of Methamphetamine and Carrying Weapons. He was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $2,000 bond. Another person in the vehicle, 41-year old Amy Michelle Stiner, also of Hepburn, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was released from the jail after receiving a citation.Red Oak Police assisted deputies in conducting the arrests and investigation.

Ticket Distribution Information for State Wrestling Finals

BOONE, IOWA – The State Wrestling Championship has been a sold out event for over 20 years and is the only IHSAA reserved ticket event. On October 29, 2014, the Board of Control of the Iowa High School Athletic Association approved the procedure for the purchase of 2015 State Wrestling Tournament finals tickets. Tickets will continue to be sold through either a walk up process or online.

Under this ticketing system, schools have the first opportunity to purchase tickets. Ticket sales to IHSAA member high schools who host wrestling programs will begin Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:00am and close Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 11:59pm. The order limit is a maximum of sixty (60) tickets per school. Complete information regarding the ticket ordering process for IHSAA member high schools hosting wrestling programs has been communicated with them.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 10:00am. The public will be able to purchase tickets at the Iowa Events Center ticket office or online at www.dahlstickets.com or by calling 1-866-55-DAHLS. The order limit will be ten (10) tickets.

The ticket price is $10.00 per ticket, plus a convenience fee of $1.75 per ticket. There will be a $4.00 handling fee per order. A valid credit card will be needed to make an online purchase. The Iowa Events Center seating chart will be available identifying class 1A, 2A, and 3A mats. All seats will be assigned in the order the transactions are processed either at a ticketing location or online.

Red Oak house fire believed to be electrical-related

Fire officials near Red Oak say an investigation has determined an electrical problem was the likely cause of a house fire that occurred late last week. The blaze at 2359 Highway 48 just south of Red Oak, happened at around 6:30-p.m., Thursday. The flames were visible from about a mile away as the first crews were arriving.

No one was injured in the blaze that caused about $60,000 damage to the two-story structure owned by Duane Barkman. Firefighters from Red Oak, Elliott, Essex and Stanton had responded to the scene.

REV. STEPHEN L. GRONSETH, 88, of Atlantic, died Sun., Nov. 16th at the Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center. Funeral services for REV. STEPHEN GRONSETH will be held 10:30-a.m. Fri., Nov. 21st, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Atlantic. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home, where the family visitation is at 6-p.m., Thursday (11/20).

Burial will be in the Exira Cemetery.

REV. STEPHEN L. GRONSETH is survived by:

His wife – Carol Gronseth, of Atlantic.

His children – Stephen Gronseth, of Colorado Springs, CO; Gregory Gronseth, and Roseanne Gronseth, both of Minneapolis, MN; and Judi Gronseth, of St. Paul, MN.

His step-children: Wade (Roxanne) Nelson, of Harlan; Christopher (Wendy) Nelson, of LeRoy, IL, & John (Erin) Nelson, of Downs, IL.

His sister – Joyce Limburg, of Apple Valley, MN.

2 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, his brothers-and sisters-in law, other relatives and friends.

No. 14 Iowa State beats Georgia State 81-58

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Monte Morris scored a career-high 19 points with nine assists and 14th-ranked Iowa State rolled past Georgia State 81-58 on Monday night. Naz Long added 17 for the Cyclones (2-0), who outscored the Panthers by 17 points in the second half. Iowa State led by just two before going on a 31-13 run that put the game out of reach. Long keyed the stretch with a pair of 3s as the Cyclones pushed their lead to as much as 73-49.

R.J. Hunter had 21 for Georgia State (1-1). The Panthers were a unanimous pick to win the Sun Belt for the second year in a row.
