CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Lance Jones scored a season-high 27 points and Southern Illinois edged past Northern Iowa 71-68. Bowen Born led the Panthers with 16 points.

(Radio Iowa) The Iowa Hawkeye women outscored Minnesota 28-8 in the third quarter and raced away to a 94-68 victory in Williams Arena.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder. The Hawkeyes move to 10-4 overall and 6-4 in the Big Ten as they get ready for a pair of ranked teams this week in Ohio State and Indiana.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Darnell Brodie scored 20 points on 10-of-10 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds and Drake remained undefeated by beating Illinois State 78-76 in overtime. The Bulldogs became the third Missouri Valley Conference team in the last 50 seasons to win their first 16 games.

The other two legendary teams were Wichita State, which started 35-0 in 2013-14, and Larry Bird’s 1978-79 Indiana State team that won 33 games before falling to Magic Johnson and Michigan State in the NCAA championship game. Antonio Reeves scored a career-high 27 points for the Redbirds.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Nalyssa Smith scored 20 points and Dijonai Carrington added 17 as the Lady Bears avenged an earlier loss to the Cyclones. The victory keeps Baylor alone atop the Big 12 standings, while Iowa State falls two games back. Ashley Joens led the Cyclones with 25 points.

Iowa State was trying to become the first opponent in more than a decade to beat Baylor three straight times.

Barring another postponement due to the spread of the cornonavirus, RAGBRAI 2021 will take place pretty much along the same route it would have taken in 2020. Organizers of the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa say the ride will take place between July 25 and July 31. The 2021 Route is 426 miles and 11,481 feet of climb making it the 16^th flattest in RAGBRAI History.

On Saturday, organizers said it would be the same Le Mars to Clinton route that was scheduled for 2020. However, there are two changes. The ride will go to Sac City and Dewitt instead of Storm Lake and Maquoketa for overnights.

The ride will start in Le Mars and go to Sac City, Fort Dodge, Iowa Falls, Waterloo, Anamosa, Dewitt and Clinton. The weeklong ride costs $175, but non-riders can register for $35, and for riders to get day passes it’s $30.
