The UNI Panthers dropped a road game at Southern Illinois 86-63 on Wednesday night. The Salukis jumped on top by 11 in the first half and outscored the Panthers by 12 the rest of the way.

Tytan Anderson led UNI with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Landon Wolf added 17 points. The Panthers fall to 13-16 overall and 9-10 in the Valley.

Next up for the Panthers is a regular season finale at home against Belmont on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

Iowa had another terrible shooting night and folded defensively late in an ugly 64-52 loss at Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes shot only 32 percent and were three-of-28 from three point range.

That’s Iowa coach Fran McCaffery. Filip Rebraca had 13 points and seven rebounds as the Hawkeyes fall to 9-8 in the Big Ten.

Kris Murray struggled all night and finished with five points.

The Hawkeyes are six of their last 52 from three point range. They host Michigan State Saturday.

Drake celebrated Senior night with a 10th straight victory. The Bulldogs outscored Illinois State 25-8 to start the second half and rolled to an 82-51 victory in the Knapp Center. It sets up a Missouri Valley title showdown on Sunday at Bradley to close the regular season. The Bulldogs and Braves are both 15-4 in the Valley.

Drake beat Bradley 86-61 in Des Moines back in mid-January.

DeVries says the Bulldogs picked it up defensively in the second half.

The 20th ranked Iowa State women were limited to 39 percent shooting and lost at Oklahoma State 73-68. The Cyclones are now 9-6 in the Big 12 and slip to fourth in the standings.

That’s ISU coach Bill Fennelly. The Cyclones clawed their way back after falling behind by 13 in the second quarter.

The Griswold Tigers will have a new head coach roaming the football sidelines in 2023. The School Board recently approved the elevation of Seth Lembke from assistant coach to head coach. Lembke has spent a total of 10 seasons in coaching, many of those under former Griswold coach Andy Everett. He’s also a Griswold native that is very excited to take over the reigns.

Lembke talked about the foundational pillars that he wants to build the program around.

Lembke said his new staff has already had a chance to have a voluntary meeting with the kids interested in being on the team and they discussed some of the expectations and tried to build some excitement.

Coach Lembke said he feels like they will have more depth than they have had in a long time this upcoming season and he’s excited to get to work with the team in a more hands on approach later this summer.
