BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Freshman Cody Zeller scored a season-high 26 points to help No. 16 Indiana defeat Iowa 103-89 on Sunday night. Zeller made 11 of 12 shots and had four assists and three steals for the Hoosiers (17-5, 5-5 Big Ten), who scored more than 100 points in a conference game for the first time since defeating Iowa 110-79 on March 12, 1995. Christian Watford scored 15 points, Verdell Jones III had 14 points and nine assists and Victor Oladipo had 12 points and six rebounds for the Hoosiers, who had lost four of five. Josh Oglesby scored a season-high 24 points and Matt Gatens added 20 for Iowa (11-11, 3-6). The Hawkeyes shot 63 percent from the field, but committed 17 turnovers. Since defeating Michigan, the Hawkeyes have lost at Purdue, at home to Nebraska and at Indiana. Iowa and Indiana will meet again in Iowa City on Feb. 19.

Carter gives A&M women 66-64 win over Iowa State

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) – Sydney Carter made two free throws with 2.4 seconds left to lift No. 14 Texas A&M to a 66-64 win over Iowa State on Sunday.  Iowa State’s desperation heave down the court as time expired was grabbed by A&M’s Kelsey Bone.   The Cyclones’ possession before Carter’s free throws ended when Nikki Moody, apparently thinking the game clock was the shot clock, didn’t try to get a shot off as the shot clock expired with 7.3 seconds remaining. Carter went 0 for 4 on Sunday and her only points came on the late free throws. Adaora Elonu had 19 points and Tyra White added 14 for Texas A&M (14-5, 5-3 Big 12). The Cyclones (11-8, 2-6) were led by Chelsea Poppens, who had 22 points and nine rebounds.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Ben Simons scored 29 points and Kurt Alexander scored six of his 17 points in the third overtime as Drake outlasted Wichita State 93-86 on Saturday night. Garrett Stutz scored 27 points and Joe Ragland 25 for the Shockers (18-4, 9-2), who lost for the first time in seven road games this season and fell out of a first-place tie in the conference with Creighton, which defeated Bradley on Saturday. Kraidon Woods made a layup for Drake with two seconds remaining in regulation to knot the score at 63-all. Alexander’s 3-pointer gave the Bulldogs an 82-79 lead with 19 seconds remaining in the second OT, but Ben Smith matched it for Wichita State with eight seconds left. Jeremy Jeffers scored 11 points for Drake.  Toure’ Murry had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Shockers, whose eight-game winning streak was snapped.

AMES, Iowa (AP) – Royce White had 18 points and nine rebounds as Iowa State upset fifth-ranked Kansas 72-64 on Saturday, snapping the Jayhawks’ winning streak at 10 games. Melvin Ejim added 15 points for the Cyclones (15-6, 5-3 Big 12), who had lost 13 straight to Kansas since their last victory in 2005.  White, a 39 percent free thrower shooter in Big 12 games, hit a pair to put Iowa State up 64-59 with 1:47 left. Kansas threw the ball away and Chris Babb drained a 3 to give the Cyclones an eight-point lead with 55.6 seconds left.  Tyshawn Taylor led five players in double figures with 16 points for Kansas (17-4, 7-1), which hadn’t lost since Dec. 19 against Davidson. Thomas Robinson had 13 points, but he committed five turnovers and the Jayhawks were outrebounded 36-23.  Iowa State students celebrated the biggest win of coach Fred Hoiberg’s tenure by storming the floor.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – Kamille Wahlin scored all 13 of her points in the second half and Iowa upset No. 13 Purdue 59-42 on Saturday, snapping the Boilermakers’ 11-game winning streak.  Center Morgan Johnson added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (12-10, 4-5 Big Ten), who had lost four of their last five games. Purdue’s Brittany Rayburn hit a 3-pointer to cut Iowa’s lead to 40-37 with 11 minutes left, but the Hawkeyes answered with a 16-2 run over an 8-minute stretch to pull away.  It’s the first Big Ten loss for Purdue (18-4, 8-1), which was beaten for the first time this month.  This was a tough and sloppy game from the start. Iowa led just 23-21 at halftime. The teams combined for 43 fouls and 29 turnovers.  The Boilermakers had won 16 of the last 19 meetings with Iowa, including a 57-55 victory on Jan. 15 in Mackey Arena.
