SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Chelsea Poppens scored 19 points, Hallie Christofferson scored 11 of her 18 in the second half, and fifth-seeded Iowa State ended No. 12 seed Gonzaga’s dominance at home in the NCAA women’s tournament with a 72-60 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Gonzaga went 4-0 the past two seasons playing on its home floor at the McCarthey Athletic Center during the NCAAs in reaching the round of 16. Iowa State (24-8) finally solved beating Gonzaga at home thanks to dynamic shooting from behind the 3-point line and an awful shooting performance by the Bulldogs.

Brynn Williamson hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points for the Cyclones. Taelor Karr led Gonzaga (27-6) with 15 points, but the Bulldogs shot just 32 percent.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) – Ohio State is preparing for a big game at an arena that has not been kind to the Buckeyes.   Second-seeded Ohio State is one win away from reaching the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament for a fourth straight season, something the Buckeyes have never done in their history. Ohio State (23-11) can pull it off by beating 10th-seeded Iowa State (23-11) at the University of Dayton Arena on Sunday.

The Buckeyes have opened the NCAA tournament in Dayton twice while Thad Matta has been their coach. Both times, they failed to advance. Their challenge Sunday will be to clamp down on the nation’s top 3-point shooting team. The Cyclones were on the mark in an opening drubbing of Notre Dame on Friday night.

The 10th-seeded Cyclones (23-11) will play No. 2 seed Ohio State on Sunday. The Buckeyes advanced with a 95-70 thrashing of Iona.
